When you get embarrassed, you get nervous, therefore your heart rate gets faster, pumping more blood around your system.
Your blood produces heat, and when enough heat is exposed to a section of your body, it makes it red.
I hope that explains it enough, if not, check this out:

The brain tells the system to send blood thru the capillary veins into the face for some unknown reason
perhaps so people can then even get more embarrassed because they turned red.like a joke the body plays on itself? ha ha

Two reasons that were explained to me.
The first is that the skin is generally very pale and light complected.
The second factor to add to the first is that the blood vessels are very close to the surface of their skin.
People with darker complections and blood further from the surface can't blush or become red from scratching.

I think they get a version of the fight-flight syndrom, generally caused by fear or anxiety. More blood is pumped through the arteries, and shows in the face. But this is only speculation on my part. I haven't bothered to look it up.

Interesting question lol...I've never thought of that. Just an educated guess...I think it's because all the blood rush to their cheeks because of excitement or something. But thats just my guess...there should be a complicated explaination out there somewhere
