I have seen some of the most biased answers in the Religion and Spirituality section and was wondering how anyone can say they believe in God and then be so blatantly rude to those who don't. Even if an Atheist is rude to us Christians I thought I heard somewhere to "turn the other cheek". The R and S section has really opened my eyes to how horribly twisted my faith is becoming.

I do believe in accepting people for who they are. However as someone mentioned before if they are mean and rude i will accept it and just choose not to talk to them. Im not sure i quite get the last line of your question but ill attempt to continue anyway. I also have noticed that people say they believe in G-D and are very rude to those who dont. Many times they are rude to those who dont believe in the same G-D which can almost always end up badly. Your faith is fine though if you are saying what i think you are. The people who are rude to others with a different religion is solely their decision as a person I believe because unfortunatly not all people are tolerant of those who are different from them. However, (this may be going a little off topic but bear with me here) what i dont get is why people kill those (in some cases) that are different to them either religously or other ways. After all dont most if not all religions believe murder is a sin? I dont know, people certainly have some weird thoughts and motives to that.
Well hope this helps =]

Your faith is fine, darlin'. Even I as an atheist will say so.

The problem is that we have a grossly disproportionate number of poo-stirrers here who use their affiliation with a particular faith group as a cudgel to belittle those who believe otherwise.

As I said, your faith is just fine. Some of your fellow believers need to review the tenets of that faith, however.

Cheers
Bill

I'd say turn the other cheek anyway. I doubt any Atheist cares about: "burn in Hell" or similar. Roll with it. And I wish Xians would give examples when you claim we're rude, hateful, miserable or fools (last 3 from "Truth Sayer"). Without these, we're unclear where you're coming from with your complaints about us - I find these *unsubstantiated* attacks from Xians (like yours, above) to be the only offensive aspect.

I try to but to be honest I am a sinner. I pray for help and guidance to make me a better person. I try to respect every ones belief, and ask questions on issues i don't understand but to be honest i have a hard time with people and their prejudices. God forgive me.

"was wondering how anyone can say they believe in God and then be so blatantly rude to those who don't"

I often wonder that same thing.

Absolutely. I am a stong believer in the the ethic of reciprocity. Do unto others and you would have them do unto you. Don't push your beliefs onto my life and I won't push back.

Some dogmatists mistake accepting for condoning.

I accept everyone for who they are.
If they are ignorant, intolerant bigots, I accept that we will not get along too.
