I'm a 17 year old Christian girl who is working as a camp counsellour at a christian camp this summer. However, the camp is a non-profit organization that looks to witness to kids and teenagers and asks their staff to volunteer. Unfortunatly many of us can't afford to work all summer for nothing but we still want to devote our summers to serving God and working with kids. I am in this situation. I found my faith at this camp and I want to make a difference in kids lives like my counsellours made in mine. There is a sponsorship program at camp that I intend to make use of. Though I don't really like the idea of asking people for money, my mom has told me I have to make $2000 this summer so I am torn between asking people for money so I can serve God or not asking and staying home. I also don't know where to look for sponsors...can anyone give me any advice for this?

Darlin, go and speak to your Minister and Youth leader about how to raise money for your Ministry to the children. Some churches will have a special offering to sponsor their people in the ministry field. Some have funds set aside for such endeavors.

My sister is a relief Missionary to the former Soviet Union - and her church funds her trips.

Some youth groups have car washes and church garage sales where people donate time, and material to help aid funding such things.

Make your Minister aware and seek his advice.

I pray that God provide you with rich blessings - to both fund your honorable work, and to help you reach these young lives for Christ. In the end - only the things we have done for Christ will last.

Peace hon.

How does going to camp serve God? Seriously, can't you learn what you would learn in camp closer to home? And more to the point, can't you just volunteer to DO something rather than go to camp?

If you need the money, get a real job. You need to look out for yourself first.
