I'd believe that the authors of the bible were profoundly bad at math. Which explains a lot about the rest of the bible (bogus stories of age spans, Noah's ark, age of earth, etc).

If the Bible said 1 + 1 + 1 = 1 , would you believe it ? I believe it , as it is in the King James Holy Bible .(* 1 John 5 : 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven , the Father ,the Word , and the Holy Ghost : and these three are one .*) There are no "if`s" in the Bible , and there are no assumptions ; it`s all fact, so therefore if the Bible said 2+2=3 , then it would be backed by "fact" in the Bible, and not an "if" !!

Wow.... so many people, so little time to learn from God's word! First of all, God doesn't tell us something that is incorrect... He cannot lie or decieve... that is Satan's field of work and he does it very well obviously!... God gives us His words through His prophets... it is written down and put into scriptures... then man takes it and puts it into his own words so he can understand it better... it is then imperfect and defiled... The Bible has been re-written and translated so many times, it has been changed to fit man's understanding!
It is still filled with many of God's truths, but some would have us believe that He would tell us that 2+ 2 = 3.... It is not so...
Satan can tell us half truths or near truths to taunt or test us... just as he did with Adam & Eve in the garden after the creation! He told them half truths to tempt them, but they had to make the decision to partake of the fruit... it is up to each of us to learn and to know what the truth is! I hope that some of you will want to know and to study it out!
By the way... that 1+ 1 + 1 = 1 theory is another misguided one, there are three members of the Godhead, The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit... they are one in purpose, but not in body.... that confuses some people, and misguides others!

I love it when Christians talk about interpreting the Bible differently. I know there will be an unendingly frustrating day when we prove there was no Creator, and is no God, and the Christians will come to the atheists saying: "See? The Bible is correct! It was just a philosophical text on the nature of humanity."

Here's an idea: why not dump the book altogether? It has been revised so damn much.

acutally Maggie, in binary, 1+1+1 = 11

and if im not wrong, 1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1=1 in boolean algebra...if memory serves me correctly

This is a fallacious question. Well, I really don't even have to call it one.

Here are some counter-questions for you to answer...,
When you are saying 2 + 2 = 4, are you suggesting that you learn this somewhere? Are you sure this is real? Is your understanding of math pure? Is it real? Can you prove to me and to everyone that 2 + 2 = 4? Now think critically, I just rejected your question.

No, because the Bible is a flawed man-made book which is full of contradictions. If God wrote the Bible it would be perfect, but it's not.
