I think a really cute style for a 13 year old is the Charlie Angels look. Where the hair is flipped out all over. Another trendy look is the straight look, but the ends look kind of choppy. Just just a pomade on the ends to give them a more textured look. You can also give the choppy look even with the ends curled out too.

Here are some web sites that might even help you out more.

Hope this helps you

Well in the magazines curly is in. But in Middle School and High school I like to do loose curls it looks awesome and even if she doesn't like the idea test it out and see if her friends like it then she will. Take small sections and curls every other section. Just take a curling iron and wrap the hair around it but leave the ends out. Or take the curling iron and leave start curling from the root and leave the ends out. Then take you fingers and seperate them when your all done. It looks sweet! Or she just might want her hair straightened. Make sure you use a heat protector like the CHI thermal protector it works awesome and also acts as a hair spray making sure she'll have curls all night!

Before she goes to bed the night before.. COVER her hair in various gels, mousses, and just let her sleep with that on with out covering it..

It will make her hair all massively ratty and crazy.. and just a few sprays of hair spray and she will have the craziest hair..

Or if she want a less drastic style... Tell her to look up some pix from like the 60's or 70's. Then try to emulate it for her.

Have fun!

Im 13, and i normally go with the straightening, but if she wants to look good, I would go with curling. Most girls want the opposite hair that they have, and she probably sees all the curls in magazines, and wants that too. I know i do.

Here's a link to a good one: http://www.beauty-and-the-bath.com/image-files/half-up-half-down-grad-hairstyle.jpg
TO DO IT:
1| Use a comb to gather all of the hair on either side of the head above the ears and pull into a half ponytail that rests high on the crown of your head.
2| Join the hair to form a very tight angled ponytail.
Place the 2nd finger of your right hand 1 1/2 inches below the new half ponytail base on top of the ponytail.
3| Fold the entire half pony up towards the ceiling and over your finger forming a small loop. Secure the new hair loop in place.
4| Still holding the new hair loop use bobby pins to secure the top of the loop in place.
5| Remove your fingers and flatten the loop softly against your head.
Carefully pin the bottom of the loop. This allows the ringlets to be lifted higher up at the back of your crown.
6| Hold the ringlets with a pinned seam so that the ringlets in your half updo gently cascade down your remaining hair.
7| Carefully clip this cascading hair out of the way.
8| Dive the remaining hair from the bottom into two equal sections that are parted straight down the middle.
9| Pull first one and then the other section of the two bottom hair sections up and over the half pony section so that the hair is up near the base of the half pony.
Make certain each section is secured firmly once it is positioned.
10| Pin each section of the bottom hair sections allowing the ringlets to cascade down from the base of the first half pony.
11| Remove the clip from the half pony ringlets that were pinned to the side.
12| Using your fingers, blend and merge the hair together with the ringlets from the bottom sections of your hair.
13| Allow long sections to cascade in tendrils down around your face. If you prefer your tendrils to have tighter curl, use a small barreled curling iron as desired.
Mist with hair shine if desired.

Another one: http://www.beauty-and-the-bath.com/image-files/funky-prom-updo.jpg

TO DO IT:
1. Divide your hair into five individual sections. Form a "V" shaped section, on the side and create a high ponytail held with a hair friendly elastic.
2. Create sections of hair parted from the top of your head to the top of your ear.
3. On the ride side, create two sections.
4. Pull the ponytail tail all the way through the elastic band creating a top loop.
5. Put your thumbs inside the loop and pull them apart on either side causing the loop to spread and fan out the ends of your hair.
6. Work with the loop until it is the shape of your choice.
7. Pull the left side panel up and around the center ponytail.
Use a bobby pin to secure the top of the ponytail.
8. Pull the right side up and drape it over the top of the ponytail and secure the panel with a pin at the top.
9. Take a section from both of the front panels and drape it back over the base of the looped ponytail. Secure with bobby pins.
10 If desired, use a medium barreled curling iron to twist the front sections or to turn them under.
11. Rub shine serum between your palms and smooth your hands over your locks to create shimmer.
12. Mist thoroughly with hairspray for hold

(If the party is casual, just crimp, straighten, or curl it. I like crimping; it's very unique)

Also, try flipping through magazines and asking her, "Would you like your hair like that for the party?"

Why dont you have her look through a magazine or even online and pick out a pitcture with a hairstlye that she likes, and make it look relatively close to that one. I'm sure you can do it because you have all the equipment and the experience!

Well, she probably expects you to either lightly curl it or straighten it. But don't do anything until she tells you what she wants. Because if you do something wrong, she'll be on your case in seconds. Also, she shouldn't demand these things. You have to teach her to be specific and mature.

Just tell her you won't do it cause you have no idea what to do and if you did her hair the way she didn't want you too then its her fault because she didn't tell you...
