Dude, you've asked the same question four times. You just wasted 20 points. You only need to ask it once, it's not like the question disappears after five minutes. Anyway, just go into a room with no windows and turn the lights off. Keep them off for as long as you can stand it, then turn them back on. Repeat this process, doing it for a little longer each time. Eventually, you'll get to the point where you can be in the dark without any fear at all, or at most a mild nervousness. This is the same process used to rid oneself of most phobias, though in most cases the variable is distance from the fear and not time of exposure, but hey. Alternatively, it's possible you're being haunted by something. This is unlikely unless you're very metaphysically sensitive and it's the same image every time. I doubt that's what's happening, but I'm an occultist, so I have to throw the possibility out there. ^_^ I had random creepy images which seemed to be composed of purple lights pop up in front of my eyes until I was about 13. They were very distinct and very frightening. They eventually stopped, though. Hope you have good luck with your problem!

I was afraid of the dark for a while, but then eventually I realized that the dark is really just what you see when the lights are off. There's nothing scary in it. Everything is exactly the same, only without light. Maybe you have an underlying issue that is causing your fear of the dark. Try talking to a parent or even a therapist if you think it's a serious problem. I don't think it's a huge problem that you need to get overly concerned about, but you should try to do your best to get over your fear, and then it won't be such a hassle for you to fall asleep at night anymore!

Are you afraid of the dark, or the images that your mind creates in the dark? Try to tackle this during the day when your head is clear and you have energy. Lay down and try to take a nap in a totally dark room, and when the images appear, hold on to them. When they scare you, turn the lights on, but keep focused on that image. What is it? Why is it scary? Do you believe that it is in your room or home? How can you prove to yourself that it isn't? Fear and anxiety are real things, and even if your fears are of something that isn't real, they should be dealt with in a conscious, solid state of mind.
I have things that sound like this, kinda dreams before you fall asleep for me. I'm still very much awake, but I'm not in a "normal" state.
Don't be scared to talk to someone you trust. Family might have gone through the same thing at your age. Anxiety and nightmares and many other scary things run in families, so you might be surprised at who can help you.
PS--You're not crazy. I know you didn't say you were, but I've felt like I was losing my mind before during these times of life. Good luck.

When I was small my mother use to tell me that the dark was my FRIEND. That if it were not for the dark that I would not be able to sleep, to rest, to grow taller. Flowers wouldn't grow, there would be no sunrise or sunset. The dark wasn't bad, the dark was like the blanket on my bed that I could cover up my head and snuggle down into to get warm. She told me I should talk to it, say hello and good night and it would watch over me.
I know you are older than I was, but why don't you try thinking of the dark that way. As your friend, instead of a hiding place for possible enemies. The dark hides you as well.
Say hello to it, good night to it, and ask it to hide you while you're sleeping.
Sounds silly, but I bet it works.

turn on a night light or bathroom light....and don't worry. I'm 21, married, and have 2 kids. i do the same thing you just described. last night, as i was climbing into bed, i turned my head very quickly, and i swear, i saw a little boy, with a baseball cap standing on my vanity. it really freaked me out. maybe start taking some sleeping pills if its really bad.

Maybe there is something that is bothering you and comes out at night when you are lying in the dark alone and you can think. You might want to look at your life and see if there are any "scary" things that might be happening.
