there are only two reasons you WILL be sent to a mental hospital against your will. it is a 72 hour judicial commitment because you are either 1) a danger to self or..... 2) you are a danger to others. burning yourself is a danger to self. and you will definately go. i hit myself with hairbrushes, hammers, etc. trust me i know you will go, i did. but you would probably get somthing helpful out of it, so go ahead tell your therapist.

No. People are sent to mental hospitals when they can't/won't stop the destructive behavior and talk about the emotions underlying the self-harm. Tell your therapist what you're doing. Self-harm is a way to transfer emotional pain into physical pain - which is more obvious, and easier to see. The point is to find out why you are in so much pain, and do something that makes that better.
Go ahead, tell your therapist what's going on with you and get the help you need.

You have some major issues. And telling the truth to your therapist should go a long way. I don't think the therapist will send you away but will probably just want to spend more time talking with you and giving you some medication. And stop burning yourself.

Most likely not. Before taking really serious actions with you, he will try to find the cause of you wanting to burn yourself and will try his best to try and fix the problem. Your therapist is there to help you and to let you feel comfortable talking to him about the problems you may be having, so that is what you should do. He will do what he can to avoid doing something you won't like, so you really have to work with him.

Burn yourself,, cut yourself, choke yourself, whatever the case... what's important is you to be honest with your therapist. How is he/she going to help you with your problems? How are you going to get better? And no you won't be going to a mental hospital... you are getting the help! Take care of yourself and that is what a therapist is there for!

Unlikely. As long as you can still meet your basic needs you will be out here in the world with the rest of us. I do recommend you stay with your therapist, mention the burning so you can get control of it, and you will go on to create a happy life.

If you switch to putting a rubber band around your wrist (for a few minutes, maximum), extend and release, or hold an ice cube in both hands and grasp, but show him your burn marks, and tell him about your new method, you won't have to go anywhere, and you will receive the treatment you need, so try that.

He might give you medication or possibily send you to a mental hospital. But he may think he can help you stop burning yourself if he fiures out. It kind of all depends on what he thinks the best way to help someone is...
Hope this helps!

The question here is why are you burning yourself? Do you suffer from a lot of stress? I think it would be a good idea to tell someone you are doing this to yourself. Maybe you need to get on some type of anti-depressant...It is not healthy to self mutilate. You could really hurt yourself. Talk to someone.

Yes, this proves you are a danger to your self. Take care of the burns you already have so there is no infection, and stop hurting yourself. Its not helping anything, just creating another problem !
