Yes they potentially can pass it (I've had dogs come in that have defecated socks...) BUT if it gets stuck anywhere in her intestinal track you are looking at a HEFTY surgery bill to remove it. Depending on how big and if she has other medical problems you can give her a 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide, this will make her vomit (if not try another 1/4 cup). If the sponge/rag is still in her stomach she will hopefully vomit it up and you will be worry free, if not it has already passed into her digestive system and you have to wait. If she begins to show any signs of abdominal pain, vomiting (after she is done with the peroxide - couple hours), constipation, or lethargy, get to a vet NOW! This may take a few days to pass so keep fluids in her and try feeding her a bland diet of boiled chicken (no skin or bones) with steamed white rice. Hopefully this helps!

You need to get her to a vet. I don't think I could pass a car rag or sponge. LOL

It would have to be pretty small. You should call the vet right away. Especially if it was not a clean rag/sponge!

Probably not. Go to a vet immediately. The sponge can cause a blockage in the dog's bowls that may result in death.

Probably not. You should see a vet, or call one right away before it becomes time to pass it. The rag may strangulate the intestines.

She might or might not. The problem is that this won't be digested. If you are lucky it will pass on through and be passed with stool. However, it could also get "stuck" somewhere in her stomach or intestines. This would require surgery or she would die. You really should call your vet right away.

Yes, but keep a crap watch for it. To aid expelling the objects give her olive oil, about 2 tablespoons full to help lubricate it along. If you don't see the objects, and they won't be pretty, watch her for an obstruction. Vomiting, loss of appetite, fever, excessive drinking water AND there's the possibility she won't be able to pass it with out assistance. Keep your vet's number handy.

Keep an eye on her..you might have to help pull it out..slowly!

If a sponge- I agree- could cause bowel obstruction. Needs vet.

depending on the dog...I have a lab who eats big things all the time and about 3 days later it comes out of one of the ends. If its a big item, he throws it up and if its smaller he poops it out.
