About software engineering?

Question

I'm doing higher national diploma in software engineering and hope to do the degree too. I need to know what programming languages should I learn, to be a qualified software engineer. And I like to do system engineering in Microsoft.
Any way,
can anyone tell me to be a great software engineer what qualifications should I develop.

there are a lot of progs languages you can learn like
1 - Visual C++ although Its quite difficult specialy statments is one of the strongest programming languages
2 - Visual Basic which quite easy to learn and its statements are not very hard and It is too one of the strongest lprograming languages
