As a groomer for 15 years....YES! You don't have to by anymeans but it sure is appreciated. As far as percent, there is no standard just what you feel. A typical groom with me for a small dog is 47-50 dollars and most tippers give 5-8 dollars tip. I do have more than a few that tip anywhere from 10-20 dollars! The above average tippers are pretty much guarenteed an appt. even in my busiest times and special treatment and/or services ie. dog ready before any others special request granted etc. Groomers can be bought!! Last x-mas I had one client give me 100 dollars for a gift! Needless to say he never has to wait!

It really depends on the type of dog you have, their temperment, and the type of grooming service you have done.

If you have a dog with a labrador type coat that is simply getting a bath and brush, I'd say $5 minimum (which is what we tip when my bloodhound goes in).

For a dog that needs any type of trim or coat care, I would start at $5 and move on up depending on the size and cut. If you are having a poodle, spaniel, or any other fancy cut done with all the bells and whistles, I'd do at least $10.

You also want to consider your dogs temperment. If you know your dog hates having his nails trimmed and is going to throw a fit and will have to be muzzled, you may want to throw an extra dollar or two in there just for the hassle (and the risk of losing a finger or two!).

Yes,
usually a couple of dollars is fine, but if you tip them well (5 or more) they well remember you and be fighting over who gets to do your dog next time.
sad but true,
I used to be a groomer

You may tip anyone who does a service for you. Rates can vary from a dollar to 20% of the cost of the service.

Ask the manager of the dog grooming salon. He or she will be glad to tell you. It's great that you ask because they don't make a lot of money.

I think a tip is always appreciated when someone is providing a service. 15-20% is always a good place to start.
