The best thing to do is to stop feeding them that brand, switch to something else (I recommend Life's Abundance with no preservaties, byproducts and contains antioxidants and other things for your pets - look for link to "healthy Pet Net" on Petsweekly.com front page.

Keep an eye on your pets for the following: vomiting, lethargy, refusal to eat, lack of water intake.

If you see any of those, take your pet to the vet and be sure that you tell him/her that you've been feeding one of the foods that was recalled.

At this point, there have been only 10 known deaths related to this problem, but we don't know how many more have been effected that we don't know about. The food causes kidney failure and apparently that occurs incredibly fast. NOTE: THE FOLLOWING WERE JUST ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST:
Nestle Purina and Hills.

FYI - Purina is owned by Nestle, Inc. - here is a list of Nestle's pet food products:
Pet Foods
Arthur's
Bakers
BETA
Bonio
Felix
Friskies
Go-Cat
Go-dog
Pro Plan
Purina
Spiller's
Winalot

The list has been expanded at least 3 times (now 4 as of March 18) in the last week, so just because it's not on there now, doesn't mean it won't be. the best option is to get your pet on a food that is high-quality, with no byproducts or fillers. Stay away from wheat and corn as many pets appear to develop allergies that can be manifested in different ways.

Hope this helps!

Your pets are fine, relax they probably love you to. I would however, feed the cat a dry food, as opposed to the can/pouch, maybe a mix of the two, but the cat needs the dry to help with tarter control on the teeth, help with their gum health, good oral cleaner I guess is what I'm saying. I think it is important to feed your pet quality food, I purchase our dog food from the vet, it's a fish/potatoe blend made by Eukanuba, she also gets health bars made by Innova, they are full of vitamins and dogs love them. To verify what dog food it was, contact your local newspaper, there have been lots of articles about it. Good luck.

yeh i heard about this stuff too and im sad to hear about it because you know the funny part of it ...ALLL i mean ALLL of the food that has been recalled are animal tested and the ones still sitting on the shelves were not. So wut does this tell you? ANIMAL TESTING IS NOT MANDATORY!!! and it should be against the law...Its really ironice that they test to prevent this from happening but it did...and the company who doesnt do such thing the products are still in shelves...anyways go to
www.menufoods.com/recalls
they will tell you
good luck to ur pets

yes. eventually all pets die. dah.
woulda thought if you love our pets to death so much they'd be eating the same food as you. or better as the animal people in this neighbourhood do.
why stress over nothing. i'm sure the food you eat has just the same amount of toxins, bad additives ect ect.

Switch to goodbrands either way. Check the ingrediants, but first learn what is good in the food.

This food scare may be a good thingin the end, get people off those easily available yet crappy commercial brands.
