If he did as you say he did you need to get him medical treatment right away...My friend big boxer tore up a rug and ate it. After the dog almost dying, and two operation later the dog is doing fine. So if you dog did eat a rug as you say you need to get him to the vet real quick. What happen was the yarn from the rug wrap around his intestines. He was so sick and lost a lot of weight in a very short time. I feel so sorry for your dog because what he has ahead of him is not a thing no owner should go through.

I think he will throw most of it up and the rest will be digested but a visit to the vet is definitely the safe way to go.
