I saw it on the "making of" 300 but can't remember the name. It's some filipino martial arts that deals with weapon?

They used a variety of Eastern and Southeastern martial arts like Kali and also historical Western martial arts, mostly weapon related arts. It explains this on the movie website in Behind the Scenes and then video journals and then Stunt Work.

Although we don't have much existing documentation on the exact martial training methods used by the historical Spartans, I beleive that spear, sword, and shield techniques aren't that dramatically different across the globe. There's only so many effecient ways of thrusting a spear.

They were very accurate with the phallanx idea, where they basically made shield walls and fought in close formation.

I just saw the 300 today, and man was I impressed!
