My neice has been going "emo" i suppose, but i'm not qutie sure what the whole emo thing is, should i be worryed?

emo is short for emotional...but some teens have made it into a style and a way of life. Some "Emos" imitate depression in an attempt for attention. Some just like dark stuff. But sometimes, teens who really have a serious problem with depression can be labeled "emo" and made fun of for it since "emos" are supposed to be known for exaggerating life's problems and taking things too seriously as well as being very sensitive. So my advice to you is to just make sure she's ok. It might just be her style. I have plenty of friends at school who dress in black and wear heavy make up but they aren't depressed. Emos are also stereotypes to cut themselves or use other ways of self injury. I just thought you should be aware of that. But even if she does were wrist bands and arm warmers, that doesn't mean she cuts, though it could be a sign of it. Look for things like her refusing to go swimming or wear short sleeves or shorts. You shouldn't freak out about it though. As long as you're sure she's not depressed and isn't hurting herself she should be fine.

ok you cant call someone emo if you dont even know what it is. I'm emo, and you shouldn't really be worried. Unless she starts talking about killing herself or something, then you've got an issue. Other than that you're fine

I have tons of friends who are emo. They all ave been bullied in their life for a long time at some point in their life. Some even raped. They cut to relieve anger and stress. Some people are just more angry and gruesome than others so chucking baseballs at trees does not work. I am not emo I just really love their style and support them. We wear the things we wear and do the things we do that is apparently 'accult' to some people because we just enjoy loud, fun music that helps us to relieve stress. Most of the bands we listen to help get us through life. It is not because we hate everyone. Most of my emo friends are catholic and so am I. For all we know the devil could like jazz. We wear the things we wear because we think it looks awesome and have these 'dark evil colours' as our favorite because they look cool. They are not dark and evil. In my eyes they are just beautiful. We are just missunderstude and people judge us. We are actually super friendly and do not judge people at all

Emo are people like everyone else, just they have a different style and taste of music, what's so bad about that, eh? don't make fun of them, its not right K. I'm not saying none cut or are depressed because SOME do, but not all do. their emotional people, YOU DONT KNOW THERE STORY FFS!!!

My girlfriend is Emo her three year old sister died in her arms but she is still one of the nicest people ever and they only cut for release

Yes you should be a bit worried but she might just like black clothing, don't jump to conclusions!
