I stay busy and keep active. I have lived alone since 1996 and prefer it after having catered to the needs of others up until that time. I assist with the care of an elderly neighbor on a daily basis; work on keeping my 13 acres cleared of underbrush; work all kind of puzzles, read, and commmunicate with my family through the internet, telephone, or by writing letters; work on my family tree doing geneology research; harvest the wild strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries and make homemade jelly; raise a garden and can or freeze fresh veggies; make baby quilts for everyone I know or hear about having a baby. It is called stay busy and contribute something to the community you live in. Most importantly, I thank God for the many blessings each day brings.

i am a little ashamed to tell you something this personal. i watch animal kingdom over and over, play on the computer, rite poems, bounce around the room exercising my whacker many times a ay. and i drink cases and cases of fresca black jerry. "everybody plays the fool sometime?" waiting for god and hoping to save enough to move back to the city where i was born. no family, old ma is dying witjh alzheimer, son is through with me -- estranged he calls it, same with daughter because she is gay and has a legal partner of some kind, and my old truck is getting a rebuilt engine this week. hard times. but i concentrate on days long ago when i listened to "jimmy mack" and so many other naustalgia that lifts me a little. gotta really get busy and make some funeral arrangements for ma and me. i am much younger but have had a 4-way bypass that i think they messed up. that plus bad problems with diabetes. how do you get your mind right to handle that well. like a man. like say buddha would face it. get ready. gotta start packing and getting ready to go. get out of tjhis dangerous ghetto with the parking lots full of thugs and gangsta rappers when it turns dark. you dare look their way and you give the evil eye quick. gotta get my head better. i can do it but it is hard. i want to die WELL, PROUD. NOT like a dog in an alley. granny was great. so was my grandpa. i remember. it was long ago for grandpa but by god he was laughing knowing he was about to go. anurism or something.

Spend as much time out in public as you can.
Museums, sporting events etc. When you are out you will meet people who enjoy things you enjoy.
When home read, listen to music and a little TV is okay.
