do you have to naturally be tall when young to be able to be tall when older. Or can you be short and then later on start growing at a faster rate?

because those people who are like 6'8'' or 7 foot, were they all just really big kids or is it different then that?

thx

When I joined the navy at 15, I was 5'6" tall and round.
2 years later I was 6' tall and a lot slimmer. I am now 6'3" and thinnish.
There is a valve at the base of your spine which controls your growth. This starts closing in your later teens, and usually is fully closed by the time you are 20/21.
So, your height at about 20 years old dictates to within about half an inch how tall you are going to be.
(There will, of course, be exceptions to this general rule).

Men usually stop growing before 20, but can continue to grow until 24. Women are usually done by 18. Some tall adults grew tall when young. Others grew steadily until they reached their adult height. And still others are short until they have a growth spurt. It varies from person to person.
Look at your parents and grandparents -they will be the best example of how you will be.

No, you do not have to be tall as a child to grow up tall as an adult. Additionally, some people hit puberty and have a growth spurt earlier than others. So those people that might be tall in middle school, might not grow much more and might end up being average height. It just depends on puberty and how your body changes during that time.

no you you. it comes down to genetics, the nutrition you get, and the amount of growth hormone your body produces. Poeople who are 7 feet tall produce a lot of growth hormone, sometimes this is caused by a tumor.

One of my smallest sons turned out to be over 6 ft tall. He was always small for his age until late high school.
