Seriously, as much as it was tempting, I didn't ask this question purely to offend the fundies.

Take this scenario. You are a good, Christian parent, and you are ultimately worried that your children, whatever you teach them, may be corrupted by the Devil. If you let them live and make their own choices, there is always a chance that they will stray from the path of righteousness. No good parent would want any chance that their children would spend eternity in Hell, suffering torture.

Thus, the only way to be a good Christian parent is to murder your kids before they have a chance (maybe straight from the womb for A+ soul efficiency) to sin. You will be a true matyr - sacrificing yourself to hell for the eternal pleasure of your kids - and won't have to go through the pesky trouble of raising them!

Hey, who knows, you may not even go to Hell yourself! That other guy who was gonna knock off his kid - Abraham? - got a free ticket to heaven for that!

The bible is a load of rubbish written by man...
No wonder it is full of warped ideals and morals...

I haven't seen an adequate answer to your question yet, because if all children under the age of reason automatically go to heaven if they die, then you're absolutely right.

And all the killer has to do is repent, and both end up in heaven. Case closed. This also shows support for abortion, , and the only logical argument anyone can give is the law rather than any solid theological answer.

Unless it's just bad theology.

The atheist is not going to care one way or the other about God's law since he doesn't exist anyway. The Catholic answer would be the sacrament of baptism in that it removes original sin, and since a child is not held accountable, then the child would also get a free ticket to heaven if it died before the age of reason

Calvinism holds an altogether different view of this, with original sin existing and never being erased, tainting us and making us all guilty before God. Therefore baptism can only be a covenant that replaces the rite of circumcision in the Old Testament, although it is governed by God (meaning He doesn't necessarily have to to abide by it). This puts man in the fear of the Lord by conducting his household in a Christian manner, raising his children (and in the NT culture and times, the rest of his family) accordingly. God can still not choose the kid, but He is glorified either way. In other words, Christians, MAKE SURE you take the tenets of the Christian faith seriously. Your child's eternity depends on it, nevertheless, not our will, but God's, be done.

The Arminian has some difficult questions to answer. When Jesus said to suffer the little children to come unto him, this wasn't a free admission handout. If children are already going to Heaven, then Jesus should have ignored them, or at least the parents should have said, "never mind, Jesus, the kids don't need you."

First I am not a "fundie". I don't even go to a particular church. I am however a christian, and have noticed several things about your question. First you may not have put this question to "purely" offend the fundies. But being as it is a non sequitur, offense seems to be it's PRIMARY purpose.

But, to answer your "scenario" a good parent,(notice: no "christian", "muslim", or "Irish". Just "parent") tries to teach their children the best they can, knowing full well that outside influences (peers, media, teachers) will also be part of the mix. As christians we also pray for our children, but ultimately it will be up to them what they become. The idea of killing them just in case they turn out bad is SO idiotic, that it tells me you are most likely: a. not a christian, and just interested in christian bashing, or b. NOT a parent of any real sort.

You may not like my answer, but there it is.

And also, your last statement shows you also need classes in reading comprehension if the only thing you got from the story of Abraham was; he got a free ticket to heaven for being willing to knock off his kid....

Don't be stupid. How can you expect anyone to answer your question properly when you come up with stuff like this:
"nd won't have to go through the pesky trouble of raising them!"
As if Christians are too lazy to raise their kids.
"Thus, the only way to be a good Christian parent is to murder your kids before they have a chance (maybe straight from the womb for A+ soul efficiency) to sin"
Funny,you may think that's a clever line,but it's not.

Murder is wrong. We are told not to murder. Why do you think so many of us are against abortion?

i do not get the solutions that argue that that's ok because now Christians follow the recent testomony. that's nevertheless a similar god. that's like following a "reformed" serial killer, except that the god of the Bible is exceedingly clean about how he would not replace. @mesquiterskeetr: It says they could save the girls human beings. There are a number of different passages the position God says they could save the virgin women human beings and kill each body else. It also says that if a guy sees a tender lady from those they have conquered, he may take her as a spouse, and it makes no aspect out of her having any say in it. all of us know what better halves were anticipated to do, and if forcing a woman to have sex isn't rape, i must have forgotten the definition. Even worse, this lady may be compelled to have sex with and bear the youngsters of a guy who helped slaughter her finished relatives!

Do you want to end up in the loony bin with the Texas mother who killed her 5? Some people are too dumb to live and I'm not talking about children. What is this hell obsession? Did your mommy threaten you with hell when you were just a little whippersnapper. I know, I know, it is really hard to get past that, isn't it? And therapy is soooooooo expensive.

My question to you is why would a Christian parent want to kill their children? I know it says it in the Bible that Abraham almost killed his child but he didn't so you better read that part about Abraham over again as you aren't getting it right at all

Dig a little deeper into the history of the folks whose history is contained in the book of which you speak -
you'll perhaps be totally shocked to find - - -
that these people practiced human child sacrifice (in the days prior to the writing of this 'holy' work) . . . and participated in cannibalism also. Go figure -

The fate of my children is in God's hands not mine... I am not God and thus have no right to think I know the future, or to take the life of one of His children be it my own or another's.
