Please, I can't tell you folks how important this is to me, so tell me, do you have any idea what is an airline that could go from the US to Europe which has seats that would fit a very tall man?

I don't know of any airline which has more space than another...it really all depends on what airplane your traveling in...if it was a 747, you would have more head room (higher ceiling) than a 737 or other smaller plane. You can ask to fly on a 747 when you get your tickets and since it's an overseas flight, it will probably be in a 747 or 767. But no matter what plane you go on, ask if you can sit in an exit row seat because those seats have considerably more legroom than all the other seats in economy class. And obviously, the first and business classes will have more room than economy. I know that Southwest Airlines is nice about giving tall people more room, but I'm not sure if they fly to Europe. Most airlines should let you have an exit-row seat anyway if you ask for it and explain why. Hope this helps, and by the way click the following link for tips for large passengers going on a flight.

It depends how tall you are. I'm 6'1" and pretty much any non-exit row seat in coach/economy is uncomfortable.
I travel from the US to Europe frequently and I've found that if I can't score business class seats, the best I can hope for is to get an exit row seat or the first seat in main cabin.
Another chance you can take is to try and book an empty row so at least you can stretch out sideways if not forward. If your flight isn't very crowded you may have a chance at this. If you see an entire row empty, you can take a shot at this.
Hardly ever can you do this in advance so best of luck getting to the airport early and scoring a favorable seat location.

Any airline, as long as you buy First Class. I have the same problem every time I travel on a plane and no economy class seat seems to be comfortable for a tall man.

Coming from another tall guy this is understandable. Most airlines won't let you book exit rows over the phone only at the airport, so show up early. Also if you book early there are usually cheap upgrades to first class, especially on emptier planes (flying really early or red eye). Also, executive class is usually the same as first class so if you have the money go for it, it is really worth it in the end.
If you call in you can request accommodations due to your size. You may have to provide paperwork.
I like US Airways myself but Virgin Atlantic is also good, just usually more expensive.

As stated above, you often can't pre-book the overwing aisle seats.
I suggest that you turn up in good time, with a good attitude and a smile on your face. A little 'niceness' may help you get what you want. There is not much to be gained by checking airline's seat configuration as its only going to be an inch or two in economy.
You would be best to avoid holiday charter type airlines, e.g. Thompson in the UK as they squeeze in as many as they possibly can.

There's a couple of things you could do. Book early and select seats in the exit row (which has more leg room). United has Economy Plus, a "club" you can join that allows you to sit in the section of the plane with 4" more leg room.
You could also research this site, which discusses seat pitch (the distance between the edge of the seat and the seat in front of it) on all the airlines:

i have had nicely get excitement from with Continental and Delta. Delta does likely the most to locate an more advantageous seat next to an empty, and also I definitely don't be conscious of the numbers in touch, even if I continuously are compatible into their seats in which i do no longer continuously are compatible into the others. There are some activities going to envision out to get airways to be more advantageous smart when it comes to sizing their seats so hopefully this may likely improve in some unspecified time sooner or later. satisfied flying.

You can book Business Class, they have several feet between seats, plenty of room to stretch out, but otherwise, book on NWA, you can spend an extra $25 I believe and guarantee yourself an exit row... Called "Coach Choice" Seats

I would book your seat in advance, you would want the emergency exit row, or bulk head or of course first class etc, for emergency row they may want you to do that at the airport to ensure you are physically capable of helping in an emergency situation, and of course are traveling without children... to see a variety of seats on most airlines and the feedback go to http://www.seatguru.com.
=)
Good luck
