You can't do it with paint. Paint does not adhere well to shiny metals. The process for coating other metals with gold is called electroplating, and it requires the right equipment, skill, and practice. A jeweler can arrange to have an item like a ring electroplated for you.

To do it cheaply, you could use VERY light sandpaper to roughen the surface of the ring, so that the paint will stick better, then use paint similar to the kind used on model airplanes. You can get it at most any hobby store. If you want to color it gold for daily use, however, I recommend you get it professionally done, as the method above won't last very long if you plan to actually wear the ring.

don't believe you cold paint a ring, and have it look good. could be wrong thou ! but you might be able to get it electroplated. a jeweler would more than likely be who does this. believe it's not a do it at home job. sorry.
