Yes!!! I am terrified of going to the dentist and don't know why. I have not had a bad experience or anything, I guess it is just a phobia of mine. Toothaches are an almost unbearable pain, you know it is bad when you welcome the thought of a shot or two or three :)

try some tylenol with codeine and maybe a local anesthetic such as orajel or i have also heard of people placing a clove right on the abscess

Yes, go to the dentist before the abscess gets worse. It can actually spread to your brain and kill you.
