Jesus

The first one because it is my salvation wrapped up in a single verse and the second because I didn't realize before how much of a trickster Satan is. Not to worry, there are many many more things in there that have changed my life AND the way I live it. I added the third because the fact that God wants his people to be healthy has definitely changed my life.

John 3:16:
16For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten ([a]unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.

2 Corinthians 11:14:
14And it is no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light;

Matthew 9:35:
The Workers Are Few
35Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.

These lines had a particular impact on me when I was 16 and searching for spiritual answers:

Genesis 3:16
"I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain will you give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."

I Timothy 2:11-14:
"Let the Woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a Woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve and Adam was not deceived, but the Woman being deceived was in transgression."

"But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the Woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God... For the man is not of the Woman; but the Woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the Woman; but the Woman for the man." (I Cor 11:3,8,9)

These reminded me that the bible was not the infallible word of god, but a text written by a group of unenlightened men around 2,000 years ago, before society and science gave women a voice. After reading the bible, I realized that neither its sexism or bigotry should define my life or my personal values.

Too many to list, but here are three.

Mt 6:27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

Mt 17:20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.’”

Mt 7:2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

I was a drug abusing, full blown alcoholic. I accepted Jesus in my heart as my Lord and Savior in 1984. I have been dry ever since with no temptations or with drawl symptoms.

There was no hope in my life. Now I have hope every day.
I was suicidal at age 21. Today I am 45.

God let me go right to the end of my rope and He delivered me from my own death in dramatic fashion.

I was an atheist then. Moments after my delivery I believed in Him. It was a miracle.

The truth of God's Word. It tells us that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and if we would trust in that then our sins were taken away when He was buried and He rose again the third day for our justification. 1 Corinthians 15: 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15: 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Romans 4: 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Learning about forgiveness. So many Christians and people do not forgive and so I am learning to forgive and let the word of God change me personally by letting forgiveness be the top priority right now in my life. For God said "Forgive and you will be forgiven as well (from God)"
