stay within 5 miles of the limit no matter what and your good...
cuz most officers wont pull you over if your going like five miles different...
but anymore than that and it is called impeding traffic...

Why would you want to do this? The left lane on a divided highway with exits is supposed to be for passing only ... why would you be passing other traffic at below the speed limit?
I drive at the speed limit (or at a reasonable speed during bad weather) in the right lane. If you are in the left lane, doing under the limit you must be 1) Preparing to make a left turn, 2) traveling faster than cars in the right lane (is your speed reasonable considering conditions). or 3) Clinically insane!
In some states driving in the left lane for extended distances without cause is illegal (these are the smart states!).
Leave the "suicide lane" alone unless you are passing slower traffic, making a legal left turn, or traveling in a marked police unit! Trying to regulate the flow of traffic by creating a "moving roadblock" just pisses people off.
Drive your own car, let those who want to travel faster than the speed limit or above what you consider to be a reasonable speed have the left lane! It's far safer for everyone if the drivers you consider "speed demons" don't have to weave from lane to lane to avoid slower traffic.

The speed limit, much to the contrary to most people's beliefs, is actually that--a limit. It's not supposed to be "go at LEAST 55 mph", but go "up TO 55 mph." The left-hand lane on the highway is typically for those wishing to go a bit faster than the middle and right-hand lanes and also for semi-truck drivers. I don't think it's illegal to drive slower in that lane (so long as it's not TOO slow), but you'll probably aggravate a bunch of people doing so. If you're driving too slow, you can get pulled over. (There usually are signs occasionally saying what the minimum speed is on the highway, which varies from place to place, but I've noticed that it's typically about 10 mph under that of the speed limit.)

It's illegal to drive below the minimum speed limit in any lane, if there is one posted. If there isn't, and you're driving slow enough to slow traffic without going over the speed limit, you can also be pulled over. Be courteous, and pull to the right if you aren't comfortable going the speed limit.

THe law says you must drive on right. Except to pass or overtake. You must drive at a speed that doent Imped the flow of trafic. You must also plan your route don t wait till its to late to change lanes. If are to nervous to drive the speed limit take some lessons.

no, but the left lane is for passing cars on the right, or for getting ready to make a left turn.

Traffic law in my area requires the lead vehicle to pull to road shoulder and let pass all vehicles greater than nine in number that trail behind. Attention to this requirement is frequently signaled by following vehicles who may blink lighting, blow
mechanical horn, or hurl loud verbal insults. This latter behavior may lead to a confrontation called 'Road Rage'.
