Sony is the way to go on a budget and 2 10'' subs will hit hit harder then 1 12'' sub. Sony amp is also purty cheap you want to make Sher that you Mach the RAMs on the sub to the RAMs on the amp for beast performance. also a head unit if you mach the brand it will give you the best performance.

shop on ebay, I have a Clarion Pro audio deck, with 2 Phoenix Gold xenon x10d4 subs $90.00 for the pair, with a Profile 1000 watt amp $80.00, all brought off ebay. Once you upgrade the Head Unit you will need to upgrade the stock speakers. Check out the Phoenix Gold component speakers $ 30.00 (ebay) for your front's and 3 ways for your rear. All stuff was new on ebay. Chek out www.cardomain.com, do a search of your vehicle year and model and see what everyone else using in their ride. You can get a few good ideas off their.

If you want cheap then my advice is to look for a sub with amp package deal. Crutchfield.com is a good place to start looking. My first system was from them:
300w x1 Profile amp (great for the money)
12 inch JBL sub (blew twice crutchfield refunded)

Now i roll with Kicker all the way, expensive but awesome

For a new deck, try looking for Eclipse or Alpine. For subs definitely JL Audio. And amp would be between Helix and JL Audio.
