There was no gay marriage proposal.

There was a gay couple that called themselves married.

The state said "Non. You're not, our laws do not allow it."

The couple sued, and lost.
And appealed.
And lost.
And appealed again
And lost. And the court annulled their "marriage"

That's it. There was no legislation, no referendum, just a court case.

France already gives people who cohabitate (homo or hetero) some of the rights of marriage.

i comprehend of fairly some marriage proposals that have been replied with a no. a guy i replaced into seeing very casually some years in the past, proposed to me. I advised him no because of the fact of many motives, yet customarily because of the fact i replaced into youthful and not waiting for a extreme relationship or a dedication of that type. He needed a extreme relationship whilst i wanted quite informal. i'm nevertheless undecided the place the notion got here from (he might have in basic terms asked to be unique or circulate in mutually or some thing), yet there are in basic terms situations in people's relationships the place one individual needs extra and the different isn't waiting.

I'm not france, so I don't really know.

I think they have civil partnerships gay couples can enter into though, so it's not really an issue. The issue is with the christian church in france chucking out the homosexual part of the bible and saying that man love is ok. France is secular, so the state does not define marriage in the eyes of god.
