Just curious if you have been issued filters for chlorine gas, whether you are in Iraq or Kosovo.

This is a question that should not be answered. Sorry sir, I know you are just curious about your troops, but it seems to me that it is bad OPSEC to tell anyone what kind of precautions we are taking (since it could potentially let the enemy know what our countermeasures are and how they could defeat them).

EDIT: "We always have had our NBC Nuclear Biological and Chemical) gear and pro mask Gas mask)".... while I think it is common knowledge that we have those items and the training to use them, the question was if we'd been issued filters for chlorine, not if we had masks at all. Additionally, any discussions regarding the effectiveness of those masks or filters would be bad OPSEC. Just FYI. :)

Last time i checked that was a neg shippy, was there, didnt see them, besides if they did have them, they didn't tell us.... not like i would wear it. There isn't too much that can stop chlorine gas and if something could, nobody i knew could keep a perfect seal for very long. Chlorine gas is very very deadly, so basically if it makes you feel better then put one on.

We always have had our NBC Nuclear Biological and Chemical) gear and pro mask Gas mask) We have had extensive NBC training. They have used the chlorine gas before, its not very effective, but can cause a small amount of casualties. Its only effective in a small radius.

Haven't forces there been preparing for potential gas attacks for years, since they have been looking for chemical weapons since 2003? Or at least having to worry about tear gas?

Actually no. But, we have located many major, olympic-sized, or larger, swimming pools to use the chlorine now.

Iraq is now the safest place to swim in the world, in terms of bacteria.

If you live long enough to make it to the pool.
