Sure, it can be. But, it will depend on breeding, how the dog was raised, and the inherent personality of the dog.

White GSD's are not part of the GSD standard, so breeders of them need to be scrutinized even more thoroughly. GSDs are VERY prone to genetic problems - these stem from poor breeding. Be sure to do your homework.

PS - is there any reason you keep asking this question over and over?

They are very good dogs. They are exactly like any other GSD except for the color although some people really don't like them and will tell you otherwise. They have the same structure (although you won't find them with the extremely sloped backs), temperment, and working ability (depending on the lines; do your research). They do not have more or less health problems and are not likely to be deaf because of the color. The white coat is simply the result of a recessive masking gene. There are many breeds that have only white dogs without deafness isses. There is a very specific cause of deafness in white dogs that is not present in the GSD breed. They are known as the Berger Blanc Suisse, White Swiss Shepherd, White Shepherd, White German Shepherd Dog, and American White Shepherd. If you are looking to buy one, I can direct you to some good breeders and I can likely give you information on any breeder you are looking at. You should also join the groups I listed and ask your questions there. The next link is to the White Shepherd Genetics Project (WSGP) and you can look up individual dogs and their offspring to see their health clearances as well as any health problems that were produced. The rest are clubs specifically for WGSD/WS.

BTW These dogs can be shown in UKC shows, international shows, rare breed shows, etc... AKC and CKC (Canadian) are the only two who DQ them in the US. They are not to be mistaken with an albino which would have no skin pigment, no pigment around the eyes, nose, and mouth (a snow nosed dog is not an albino), and would have blue or pink eyes.

Do alot of research. Check the web and akc sites. Ask questions from websites devoted to German shepards esp. clubs they always have great advice. I say this because I want a Doberman and in researching the breeds a white Dobe was frowned upon by many breeders eventually this may change but only you can decide risk/benefits.

Just remember, dogs that are abnormal for their breed can end up having problems in the future.

e.g. White dobermins usually have health issues later on.
