1 kcal=1000 cal.
Thus 1 cal=1/1000 or 0.001 kcal.
Please note though- lots of nutrition books/food labels refer to food items as having x calories when they really mean kcals.
Not so in physics or chemistray class.:)

1 kcal = 1000 calories.

however, 1 kcal = 1 C (food calorie, with a capital "c")

1/1000 kcal = 1 calorie

a thousandth of a calorie... 1/1000 calories= 1 k cal!
