I did not do anything to the kid. My stepsister is having a sleepover, and one of the kids had WAY to much sugar. I am in charge of entertaining them.

HELP - lol

First of all cut out the sugar..Snacks and things that get them that way . This includes cokes and soft drinks. Children that behave this way usually have an intolerance to sugar. You can give the m a little sugar but not much. My friend's daughter was like this and one can of pop would send her right off...We would give her some water to drink (no more than 2 glasses to flush her system and a protein snack) and put her in time out or an isolated area. This depends on age of course. Even Bananas can give a person, who is sensitive to sugar, the same reaction as they are full of sugar.

Once the sugar's in--it's over--it's like they are crazed monsters--TV sometimes does wonders here--even though I am not a big fan of having kids zone out --but it does help..or having a place where they can run around and around and around--in circles or anywhere--to burn off that energy--a trampoline--a small one is always good--give them space to run and scream--a bit--and then try to calm them down--let some of the energy burn away--then you will find it easier to try the typical calming methods...calm music--dim the lights--put on some simple, cartoon or a pleasant musical...read to them etc--but first have them work off some of the energy...

make them go in their room and close the door and just make them chill out, but whenever i was on a sugar high my dad would put me in a corner and make me stand there still for 5 to 10 minutes. ALSO STOP giving the kid sugar!

studies show that sugar doesn't cause a high it is the excitment of what they are doing that gives them the "high". So put on a dvd to help them calm down

Sugar highs only last a few minutes. Sugar becomes a depressant after a few minutes... just wait it out. lol

well preventing them from eating sugar of course but if they already ate sugar try wearing them out like running or doing some sort of exhausting exercise or sport.

Run around with them. I was babysitting a hyper little 9 month old and all you have to do is play them out.

OUTSIDE!!! take them out and tell them to run around and around in circles. most kids think its really funny to do, unless they are too *old* for that. play simon says and make them do lots of activities. you could have them run in place, etc...they just need to use the energy up. shouldnt take long!

Sugar does NOT make a person hyperactive in any fashion.
It's all in his/her head.

Try giving them an orange.
Maybe the citrus will help?
