There are special diapers you can buy at pet stores. They
are not like diapers for babies. These go over the dogs
tail and fit under the belly and they have velcro straps so
they stay on. I use them when my dog is in heat, and I put
tissue inside to absorb the blood. They are great, and after
you can just throw them in the washer.

Stay away from the simple plastic-type diapers. Many dogs tend to rip them apart and try to eat the plastic which can be dangerous.

I suggest trying one of the cloth-diapers that velcro onto your dog. You buy sanitary napkin inserts to put inside and can throw the cloth outter part in the wash when you need to.

If she continues to chew, try getting an E-Collar (looks like a cone) for her to wear so she cannot reach the diapered area.

Stay away from muzzles--you shouldn't be leaving one on your dog while you aren't home to supervise.

i use pull ups. pet stores sell fabric diapers that use pads to absorb the blood they work but you have to put them through the washer after about a day or two. if u prefer the diaper try buying a scent deferent like bitter apple spray to spray on the diaper. good luck.

I believe its normal for her to do it but you can put a muzzle on her when you put her diaper and when she eats get the muzzle off and make sure she doesn't bite her diaper. You can get a muzzle at a local pet store or a vet! You can also ask some suggestions from your vet too!

Most large pet stores sell special "doggie pants" for female dogs in heat that use disposable liners, which they also supply. I think it would be safe for a female dog to "clean" herself- what do you think other canines (think coyotes and wolves) in the wild do? They don't wear pants. Don't forget to be very careful, and keep her away from unaltered male dogs. Puppies shouldn't be having puppies! To avoid all the hassles, you may want to think about having her spayed very soon, unless she is a female dog that is destined for showing and breeding in the future! Hope that helps.

It's okay for her to lick the blood. it's naturally to lick the blood. When the wild dog has wounds it will lick the blood off their young won't it? Also my dog bleeds too and dippers are bad for them.

You can use a pair of panties and stick a panty liner in them. A lot of them lick up the discharge, I don't think that hurts them at all.

A PAIR OF SMALL CHILDRENS UNDERPANTS WITH A HOLD CUT FOR THE TAIL AND SLIPPED OVER HER THEN YOU CAN PIN THE TOP TO MAKE THEM TIGHT....AS SOON AS SHE IS OUT OF HEAT YOU CAN GET HER SPAYED
