The means of gaining unauthorized access to a system through forced methods. A user will break a systems security in order to alter, retrieve personal data.

Note that hacking is illegal and can lead to ten years imprisonment under the Computer Misuse act.

Just to add to the info above, most "Hacking" now days is not actual hacking its weak guessable passwords or people peeking in on peoples passwords in cafes and so on.
