My friend has a 5mo old dog who swallowed a foreign object two days ago and will die without surgery.

The day before yesterday the dog started vomiting like once every 15 mins. We took the dog to the vet right away thinking it was parvo and when the dog tested negative they took x-rays. The vet said that there is a blockage in the stomach but it is also blocking the entry eay to the intestine. They said if the dog did not pass it by today that she would need surgery. $700 have already been spent at the vet and the money far surgery is not available for a couple more days.

Only an experienced vet or tech should pump your dogs stomach. It's been too long and it is too far into the intestinal tract for vomiting now, anyway.

At one time, I needed to make my dog throw up and gave her peroxide. Worked like a champ! BUT IT DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU DO THAT! My dog did not ingest a foreign object. You dog probably needs surgery.

I agree, the dog should have went to the vet long before now. But putting a teaspoon of salt in the back of the dogs mouth will trigger vomiting the contents of it's stomach. But the object is probably past it's stomach by now. Call your local humane society for help if you can't afford the vet.

You should of taken it to the vet 2 days ago. The object is no longer going to be in the stomach and will have to be surgically removed. If you cannot afford the surgery either take it to a shelter that can or have your vet put it to sleep. I have seen dogs die from lack of obstruction removal, and it is a horrible painful death (and it is torture in my opinion). Also, many vets will accept payments when it is a life or death situation for the dog.

Yes you can pump a stomach, but it is way too late to do it for the dog now.

So, your friend needs to get the surgery, not do some at home remedy. Yes, you can pump a dog's stomach, if you are a vet.

Pumping a stomach often gets rid of liquids or dissolved solids. If this is a solid object, chances are that it will not come out with pumping.

Mine ate a tennis ball once and had to have surgery to remove it. Cost a bundle, but she was worth it. My stupidity in letting a Rott chew on one. Get her into the vet, immediately. The first thing they will do will be to try and get her to upchuck the item....

Get going to the VET NOW.....
