Prayer is for us not for G-d. And G-d does not have a detailed plan for all of us that would negate our free will.

People pray for many reasons. I feel that number 1 is that we do not know exactly God's plan for us and in trying to get through life prayer is a major comfort, at,least it is that way for me.. Knowing that I can turn to God in prayer for any reason is a bigt comfort. no matter how small or trivial it seems to me He will listen. The other is that we want things to go a certain way so we pray. And yes we get an answer but asometimes the answer is no.

God is waiting for us to speak to Him. He knows what we need before we ask. It is just like a little child asking his parent for something he needs. His parents already knows what he needs but it is nice to have the child ask.
Another reason people pray is because they want to stay connected to God. There is no way that you can have a relationship with someone if you do not speak to them. God wants us to stay in contact with Him as if He were a best friend.

Prayer is communication between us and God. When God created mankind, he created man and woman for fellowship. When sin broke that fellowship, there was a need for a sacrifice to bring us back into that right relationship. When Christ died on the Cross for our sins, he opened a way for us to have fellowship with God again, but only if we accept him as our savior. One of the things that Jesus taught his disciples as well as us, was how to pray, which was the communication with God. Jesus even showed us be example himself, several times when he went off by himself in the Garden of Gethsemane, and several other places.

Prayer is how we talk to God. Very often a prayer may be nothing more than Thank you or a request for guidance.
I tend to say little one or two line prayers continually throughout the day. If I’m taking a walk or working in the garden my prayers may be more like fellowship or some might call it meditation.
Very often when answering questions on here something in a question will cause me to stop and say a brief prayer for the person or to ask for guidance in answering he question.
As others have said, it is also important to listen. If we have a question, we must remember to quiet our mind and listen for his response.

Praying isn't just asking for things. Prayer is first and acknowledgement of God's will and power. It is an invitation and God always responds.

God does indeed have a plan, but we're included in it. Also, prayer isn't a one-way conversation. God speaks to us when we pray.

So we can show other's that we cannot rely on our own. And the Bible verse here say's. "Seek ye first God's kindom and all these thing's will be added to you as well." which pretty much means that you need to pray and seek God.

Here's a good reason: the key to life is to love well. However, first we must know we are loved and develop a connection to Love itself so we can keep our reservoir from running dry. Prayer and meditation are the means of that connection for many people.

He wants us to be friends. As a result, He wants us to pray, and it really is a wonderful feeling to spend an hour or two talking to Him, as He understands PERFECTLY! Try it!
