It is 108 miles from Ashland to Roseburg. You've got to cross four major mountain passes, so two hours is about right.

There's gas/food/motels at exits 124, 125 and 127. You can also stop at exit 99 in Canyonville. And there's just over an hour's drive from Roseburg north to Eugene.

Don't rush, especially at night. It is March, but winter weather still occurs at elevations above 2,000 feet.

Your best resource for highway conditions is either TripCheck.com or 511. The web site includes a mileage calculator.

Check the road conditions before you leave and make sure you have a full tank of gas before crosssing the mountains north of Grants Pass. If the highway freezes up, you might spend an hour or more waiting for the pass to clear.

Two hours north of Ashland on I-5 and you're in the vicinity of Roseburg and Douglas County. Lodging in the area includes a Super 8 and Motel 6 at mile marker 127, a Budget Inn at mm 136, and Best Western at mm 148. There are various dining options at those posts. Also a couple of rest areas at mm 143 (northbound) and 144 (southbound).

If you're interested in this sort of information frequently you might be interested in a book called _The Next Exit_, which is a nationwide directory of major highways and interstates indexed by mile marker. It might not surprise you to find it's popular with RV campers and truckers, and you can pick it up online or maybe at an RV store or truck stop.
