The Lexus. I am a somewhat biased but very happy owner of a 2 gen IS (350) as well as the 1st gen 300.

Curious if you're not concerned about either performance or handling, then why the 2 cars in this class...? The IS 250 is a better value if not concerned about highest performance, not that it's a slouch, the 350 is the way to go if performance is what you seek. The IS 250 has the same bells and whistles, for the most part, for a bit less.

BMW's are great driver's car, but this tends to translate to performance and handling, something you said you're not to focused on....

Either way you'll end up with a pretty nice car.

I would definitely go with the Lexus.

While I have not driven the new IS, I am the proud owner of an IS300 which I adore. Before purchasing it, I looked into getting a BMW 330i. Differences in performance and handling are negligible. Both cars are well made but my decision to purchase the IS was based mainly on the reliability factor as well as price. Although I am a big fan of the BMW, a lot of the hype is just about the name...The BMW is considerably more expensive and repairs are outrageous. I can have my Lexus serviced at either Lexus or Toyota, or even a select shops (have yet to find one that I trust). With BMW, you are stuck with the dealer or a specialized mechanic (of course, yes, you can take it pretty much anywhere, but like the Lexus, these are specialized vehicles that not just anyone can work on). The IS is an incredible machine and I do not regret my decision one bit.

the 335 is slightly faster, and the car has a better driving feel to it, but the IS350 wil be significantly more reliable, cheaper to fix, and i prefer its interior. the 335 is more of a drivers car, the is350 is a better passenger car.
