WOW! No, I'd like to know what the experience was like.

No. A friend of mine is an Agnostic, and she is older and struggles sometimes with not knowing what may or may not happen after death. She feels that there is either no afterlife, or that if there is one, it's not pleasant. How do you comfort her? I don't ever know what to say, because I believe in God, but I totally respect her belief or non-belief, because I think God is more concerned about our actions than our beliefs. And she is a wonderful caring person. But when faced with her death, I don't know what to tell her. I asked one time on here how you comfort someone like that, and I think everyone thought I was making it up and asking as some sort of challenge to Atheists. But that's not what I was doing at all!

What is this "attend a death"? I though death was pretty much only attended by close family (and I mean CLOSE, spouse, children and only maybe those kids). Death is death. If it's your loved one, it's going to be scary, I suppose - it's death. Some people are graceful in life and death, some are not (but why are you criticizing somebody's last moments?).
Are you talking about a wake or some other type of memorial service? Memorial services are pretty much individual and vary all over the place (I've never thought of rating them). I've never been scared at a memorial but I've had good times at them.

Midge, I think you are doing a bit of judging here that would be best left for God to do. Not to mention quite an active imagination; if someone was in the dying process, but still aware, and realized there was a God/Christ/salvation available, the logical thing would be to accept Christ, and ask for forgiveness, don't you think?
Whatever YOU saw and experienced were probably natural death throes and not something supernatural.
Questions like this, and trying to determine the ultimate destination of people who have passed on is not in the benefit of Christianity, and play into the hands of the Devil and those who would like to see Christianity discredited.

What is the sad part is when you know where their soul will live forever.
Are you a good person? What a question, most of us believe that we are good people because we can look around and find someone that is far worse than we are. We can always point to the things that we think make us a good person.
But how good are we really? Dare we take this test and look at ourselves and see if we really are good? Hmmm.
If you are willing try this and see just how good a person you are.
The Good Person Test.
How will you do? Pass or fail?
Have you ever told a lie?
Doesn't matter how big or small, just a lie.
What does that make you? Before answering think about this, if I told you a lie what would you call me? A liar?
Have you ever stolen anything? Cost doesn't matter, a piece of gum, failed to give back an ink pen that you borrowed, anything.
What does that make you?
Jesus said, "You know the saying of old, you shall not commit adultery but I say that if look at someone to lust after them you have committed adultery in your heart.
Have you ever lusted?
Jesus said that hate is equal to murder.
Have you ever hated anyone?
See one day we all are going to stand before a Holy God on Judgment Day and he is going to judge us based on His Holy Law, the Ten Commandments. These are just 4 of them and how did you do? Guilty? I have broken all of these and more, what about you? How well will you do on Judgment Day?
If we break just one point of God's Law we are guilty of breaking all the law and Gods Wrath abides upon us all. Based on God's Law we are all guilty and all are deserving of punishment. But there is an out for us.
Jesus paid the price for each one of us, took on himself God's Wrath so we wouldn't have to face it on our own. Jesus was beaten, battered, bleed and died so we wouldn't have to face God's Wrath. He rose again so that we would life in his presence. Our crimes, His payment.
The real question is where will you stand on Judgment Day. Pay yourself or have it paid for you. Think about it.

I went to the funeral of a woman whom I'd known for years. She made no bones about her lack of belief in God, and she died suddenly, without any time to prepare herself.
Sitting through that memorial service was horrible. She'd been a "good" woman, a teacher and active in the community. But without salvation in Christ, all her good works meant nothing.
I never, EVER want to attend the funeral of another non-believer. It is horrible beyond belief to realize what has probably happened to that person after their death.

I've been to many wakes and funerals, and also saw someone fall down and die right in front of my eyes. I also was the one (along with one of my sons) to find a person who committed suicide. Any of them may have been enemies of God--but if so, I was totally unaware of that.

You have? I attended a funeral of an atheist. It was very hard to watch, and I was terribly moved.

Ok - how do you "attend a death"?
And I won't even start on the topic of how you would go about figuring out who God's enemies are... that's even too self righteous for me...

no and I amnot sure I am up to something like that. It would be awful if that peson declared on their death bed that they were an enemy of God. I sat by a man who was dying and he saiud he saw the pearly gatesa couple of times and that was comforting.

well, i havent attended such a funeral, but seeing as im not religious, it wouldnt really scare me to death
but if you mean the actual death of a person, that scares/disturbs me whether the person was an enemy or ally of god
