I can't get Firefox to work on my Mac. It just opens up an empty page and I have to force quit. Any ideas?

Hi Kathy:

What I would recommend is a clean uninstall and re-install of Firefox.

This is assuming you can get into Firefox. Disregard the Bookmark archiving instructions if you can't or it won't let you.

1) Using Safari, download the Firefox .dmg file from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

2) If you have important bookmarks, try to archive them first.
a) Open Firefox
b) Go to Organize Bookmarks under the Bookmarks Menu
c) Then File > Export
d) Save the bookmarks.htm file wherever you want
e) Close Firefox

3) Then do the following
a) Go to Applications and Move Firefox to the Trash
b) Go to your Home Folder in the Finder
c) Find and click into the folder called Library
d) Then find the Application Support Folder
e) Inside that find the folder labeled Firefox
f) Move the Firefox folder to the Trash

4) Empty Trash

5) Reinstall Firefox

6) Import the Bookmarks
a) Open Firefox
b) Go to Organize Bookmarks under the Bookmarks Menu
c) Then File > Import
d) Say you want to import the Bookmarks from FIle
e) Import the file

I know this may sound basic - however please ensure you are downloading FireFox for Mac. You may have downloaded the Windows version by accident.

hate to be a jerk, but are you sure the internet connection is working okay? did you restart the computer? I know it's obnoxious, but restarting works wonders!
