Yes and I thank you for your compassion and concern. It's not often that strangers are concerned with others pets.
I rushed my dog to the vet this morning. She has not eaten or drank anything in 3 days and the last thing she ate was wet food. YIPES! Turns out she is just fine! All tests came back normal. She had just gotten her vaccinations 3 days ago and she is just not feeling well because of that. WHEW!!!! I panicked, but better safe than sorry!
It's a good time to be a vet! Their paychecks will be larger for a while!

Yes. What's very fortunate is they know exactly which brand is causing this... it's Menu foods. There's a list of the dog and cat brands here---> http://www.menufoods.com/recall
What's important is to take quick action if you are an owner of an infected pet. Try to get your dog or cat to drink distilled water if you can. Some type of kindey stimulant should also be given. Ideally, Juniper Berries crushed or ground. If the animal will not eat, then a tincture (extract) must be used. Just slip the liquid under the tongue.
Other crisis herbs may also be administered to help reboot the immune system, such as: goldenseal, red raspberry, and lobelia (vomiting is normal after poisined or dealthly sick subjects ingest lobelia, it is a last resort herb but very effective).
I assume the standard practice vets may do would be to pump the stomach, but this will not help if the toxins are already inside. Some type of purging may be necesary. Email me with any questions.

I find it ironic that the following brands are involved in the recall from Menu Foods: (http://www.menufoods.com/recall/product_dog.html)
1. Americas Choice, Preferred Pets
2. Authority
3. Award
4. Best Choice
5. Big Bet
6. Big Red
7. Bloom
8. Bruiser
9. Cadillac
10. Companion
11. Demoulas Market Basket
12. Eukanuba
13. Food Lion
14. Giant Companion
15. Great Choice
16. Hannaford
17. Hill Country Fare
18. Hy-Vee
19. Iams
20. Key Food
21. Laura Lynn
22. Loving Meals
23. Meijers Main Choice
24. Mixables
25. Nutriplan
26. Nutro Max
27. Nutro Natural Choice
28. Nutro
29. Ol'Roy Canada
30. Ol'Roy US
31. Paws
32. Pet Essentials
33. Pet Pride - Good n Meaty
34. Presidents Choice
35. Price Chopper
36. Priority
37. Publix
38. Roche Bros
39. Save-A-Lot
40. Schnucks
41. Shep Dog
42. Springsfield Prize
43. Sprout
44. Stater Bros
45. Total Pet, My True Friend
46. Western Family
47. White Rose
48. Winn Dixie
49. Your Pet
The irony is that Iams and Eukanuba are always claiming to be "the best for your dog" and "everything your dog needs and nothing he doesn't". And yet, these foods are involved in a recall that also makes grocery store and junk brand products!!
I still hate how Eukanuba is the number one sponser of our AKC conformation shows!! Grr!!!!
So, basically, Iams/Eukanuba can be rated as "as good" as the grocery store products.
In the end, it is all JUNK/CRAP!!!!
ETA: Veronica is indeed right. These are all low-quality foods. How do we know that? Compare the ingredients list of all of those against something like Natural Balance or Merrick. Any dog food containing by-products, "meal", or corn in any form is a low-quality food. Any food from a grocery store is terrible.

Yes, I posted the same thing a few hours ago, but I think it should be posted over and over again (not by the same person, lol) because I had a person from my posting state that she had NOT heard of this and I really helped her. NUTRO is NOT sold at the grocery store or discount stores! I purchase it from Petco, and yes, my dog has had some weird goings-on lately. Excess water consumption and a tiny bit of appetite loss. I've stopped giving it to her, and gave her home cooked food. Until you take your dogs to the vet, which i'm doing on tuesday, don't give them a lot of protein. It's bad for the kidenys.. and don't give them any dairy or whole wheat rice/pasta. white rice is best with VERY little protein for the next day or 2 until the vet's office opens. the reason I say this is because kidneys have been affected by this terrible food, and white rice/no protein i've heard is the way to go (low protein and low phoshorus diet). Good luck everyone, and if you're very concerned, call the vet or emergency vet.

Became aware through MSN and why I have do not buy pet food at grocery/discount dtores for thats where most of the "bad"food is found. Also all the foods bought there contain BYPRODUCTS-listed under the contents which is the junk(beaks, feet etc)part of the animals used to make feed ground up into powder and so there is very little real meat-affects eventually the health of meat eaters. For cats get NUTRO and my dog AUTHORITY-cat is 17yrs but has the body -health of 6yr old,my rabbit is going on 13 years and my dog also excellent health is 7yrs old-have alsways fed pets the best food to meet all their diet needs and low stress levels-bnoth essential for a long and happy pets life

Fungus/molds affect grain crops world wide, they are referred to as mycotoxins there is no way to totally avoid
The FDA allow 20 ppm for human and pet consumption, higher quantities as much as 300 ppm(parts per million) are allowed in some livestock feed but they are mixed with a special clay to prevent the livestock from getting ill from eating.
The problem could have occur because a batch of wheat that was to be sold for livestock feed was sold/shipped in error to a petfood manufacturer (it is not the first time this happen)
And it is not just wheat that this could happen to, all grains can have molds.
One person here state wheat protein is used in all foods, that is not true, there are many foods on the market that are wheat free example Canidae.
Partly because of the risk of bad batches of grains ending up in petfoods , I chose to feed my dogs a grain free kibble Innova EVO

Calm down, people.
MenuFoods is simply the manufacturer, not the brand name.
Whether you believe the food is a high quality food, or a low quality food, the brand name company will create the formula and decide what ingredients will go in it, how much, etc, and will then have the manufacturer (MenuFoods in this case) create it.
It's just like executive chefs creating a recipe and having their sous chefs and assistant chefs carry out the labor.

Here is the link to all the brand this recall is affecting. Find the link to the brand you are using, click on that link, and check the serial numbers very carefully against the dog food you have on hand. Or if your dog has already eaten the suspect dog food, watch them carefully for signs of being sick.
Note to Veronica...it IS NOT all lower quality foods...unless you call EUKANUBA, IAMS, NUTRO and NUTRO MAX a low quality food...these are VERY expensive high-quality foods!!!
Note to ORACLE: NUTRO and NUTRO MAX ARE on the recall list. AND these food are not only sold at discount stores. If you will read the press release, PETSMART also sells these products on the recall list, and they are a premium pet supply store.
Get your facts right people...our pets lives depend on this!!! It is NOT the meat that is bad...it is the WHEAT PROTIEN added to the food that caused the contamination. AND wheat protien is added to ALL dog foods!

Yes, it's all lower quality foods. Another reason to switch to high quality food.
Edit: "Note to Veronica...it IS NOT all lower quality foods...unless you call EUKANUBA, IAMS, NUTRO and NUTRO MAX a low quality food...these are VERY expensive high-quality foods!!!" lol. Expensive has nothing to do with quality. These are pretty much low quality foods. lol. Perhaps you should be the one getting the facts straight before you chide others:

I just found out about it today, and my dogs eat one of the brands and have been really sick. I do not know if that is why, but I hope that they will be okay.
