I've noticed that some people on here are saying how athiests are ignorant and just want to be able to commit their 'wrongdoings' without guilt... athiests do have guilt, they just don't need a book to tell them what to do. why do people always think that athiests are stupid for not believing in god? what's wrong with thinking for yourself and living by your own standards?
and if you believe in god, then how is there a god? when was he created? who created him? and why do you follow the bible when it was written 300 years after jesus died?

I don't think many Christians think atheists are all ignorant or closed-minded, but here on Yahoo Answers a lot of them post ignorant remarks about Christianity because they're trying to act clever or to just bash other people's beliefs, so some of us may react to that when we answer them.

I can't answer all your questions, but the one about living by your own standards goes to the heart of the matter. People are corruptible, reason is the whore of desire, and ultimately the only standard a person will have is self-gratification. People who live by their own standards often end up as slaves to their own inner demons. I know that will sound like offensive nonsense to you, but I have come to believe it is the truth.

Also, God wasn't created.

Because you're. You haven't even begin to think. You know why you can't accept a God, its because if you did, then you wouldn't be your own God any longer.

Who created matter? Was it always here? If so then you're making the claim then there is no beginning. Therefore it requires an infinite amount of time to reach this point we now live in. That is impossible. If you claim there was a begining, then you have to make the claim something came from absolutely nothing. Well I have news for you scientist have proven the universe had a begining. And God lives outside of the universe and outside of time. It is like we are in the computer screen, and he is everything outside of it. If you don't believe the bible its up to you. But I know Jesus bones will never be found. 10 of the 12 disciples were martyered for a reason. If you believe we evolved from apes, then believe whatever you want. Its totally retarded for me. Give me your thumbs down. And see you when your thrown out of heaven on judgement day. Because if God killed his own son, because of the sin nature he took on. Then you have no hope without the blood of Christ.

Most Christians mean well when they defend their faith. But, too often, many make fundamental errors when dialoguing with atheists. We need to make as few errors as possible, not simply to win an argument, but to help the atheist come to a saving relationship with the Lord Jesus.

and on the Bible:
The New Testament is constantly under attack and its reliability and accuracy are often contested by critics. But, if the critics want to disregard the New Testament, then they must also disregard other ancient writings by Plato, Aristotle, and Homer. This is because the New Testament documents are better preserved and more numerous than any other ancient writing. Because they are so numerous, they can be cross checked for accuracy...and they are very consistent.
There are presently 5,686 Greek manuscripts in existence today for the New Testament.1 If we were to compare the number of New Testament manuscripts to other ancient writings, we find that the New Testament manuscripts far outweigh the others in quantity.

I don't think athiests are ignorant, i believe they are blinded by the truth.
The devil would love nothing more than to keep people from believing God.
If they understood what the purpose of their life is
they would turn to God right now.
You can still think for yourself if you believe in God. You just think in a different way.
Athiests believe God doesn't care, because of all the bad things that are going on in the world.
God loves us very much and He cares about what happens to us.
Living the way God wants us to live is because He knows what is best for us.
He knows whats going to happen (read Revelation) and He wants us to be with Him.
We were created by Him, for Him.
As for as God being created,God always was, no one created God.

I am of a Christian denomination, and do not think that atheists are ignorant or closed-minded. Those who I have met are college graduates; some even philosophers. They think a lot about things, and are far from ignorant.

It is not up to me to judge anyone for what they choose to believe or not believe. However, I'm sure you've already read that the people who do believe in God, do so on faith--there is no proof--we do not need any.

First off I do not think atheists are close-minded. I believe you have been pushed away by those that condescend to you.

Next, the Bible was not written 300 years AD it was organized from scrolls then. The gospels are about 40 years AD.

If you believe in the big bang where did that mass come from that exploded? You believe it is true and do not have all the answers. I have faith in God and believe in him...I do not have all the answers...sorry.

basically those people are much too narrow minded to accept that there might be another solution than theirs. its all right to believe in your cause (obviously) but some people need to BACK OFF and let others have their own beliefs and accept that just because they arent yours the believers are not ignorant but just different! if anything the accusers are close-minded!!

most people do not believe that God was created. they believe he is simply here.

there is nothing wrong with living by your own standards and dont change your beliefs for anybody but yourself!!!

Don't kid yourself about these so called Christian morals. I've never met a Christian yet that didn't do what they wanted to do, sin or no sin. Are Christians morally superior? Not a chance. How many atheist suicide bombers have you heard of? I figure they find it easier to believe a fairy tale than to get an education. By the way, did you hear of Kent Hovind, founder of Creation Science Evangelism, and his wife being found guilty of fifty eight counts of failure to pay employee related taxes and evading bank-reporting requirements. To put it briefly. Just one in an endless line of crooked Evangelists.

ok, you started off good defending atheists (even though you spelt it wrong) then the second paragraph basically lost the whole cause

You talk about atheists like they are the victim in the first paragraph then you start to basically attack the Christian belief in the second, you totally screwed this one over

But to address the question, a great number of atheists on this board do present themselves as close-minded. I am non-Christian and do not participate in organized religion and still feel that many of the atheists represented here are close-minded

Jhn 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Psa 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, [there is] none that doeth good.
