By law it is illegal to be intimate with a minor, someone under the age of 18. If her parents are not in disagreement about the relationship, then usually nothing is done about it, unless of course something happens between the two of you before she is of age, and then depending on the circumstances if she ever got tired of dating you and or became resentful, she could press charges or even the parents if it went beyond friendship. It's best you remain friends, and if you two feel that you are in love down the road then date her then. I am with someone older than me by 10 years, but this was different era than now days. It wasn't that it wasn't illegal when I was growing up, it's just that girls were not so resentful nor the parents so concerned about the age differences.

There is only a moral issue if you feel there is one. However, I don't know how comfortable I would be about my daughter dating someone who could be in college when she's still in high school. There is so much that you have already experienced (I'm just guessing here) that she hasn't yet. You are most likely on a higher maturity plane I would hope. I see a lot of drama that's going to occur here with her age. She may question when you talk to other girls, do things without her, etc. I don't know honestly because you know her better than any of us would.
My major thing is the legalities of under age sexual relations. If her parents decide to take this to the law you could end up in some serious deep waters whether it was consensual or not. I can't tell you what to do, but my suggestion would be to see if her parents would go for like double dating until she is legal, or simply find a girl who's closer to your own age.

there is a huge difference between a 16 yr old and a 20 yr old. You are in 2 different stages of life. She's in the high school stage and you are in the young adult stage. As for legal issues if you have sex it would be statutory rape.

that would be considered statutory rape if you are involved sexually. but it also varies state to state depending on the age difference. some make sure you're 18 before you can engage in an adult relationship while in some states 16 is considered consent. check your state laws. if the age limit is 18 her parents could have you arrested if they wished

I went to this gifted art school thing and this girl who I arranged a ride on the way up there with. Had her (x-bf or whatever) drive us up. He was in college and I'm sure they were doing stuff.
But for legal reasons you couldn't do anything sexually unless you live in Australia.

you can date her, you just have to wait 2 years to have sex with her. She is considered a minor, and her parents could get you arrested if they wanted to.
