My two puppies have been very sick for the last few weeks (vomiting and bloody loose stools, but parvo and parasite negative) and I am wondering if it is from the food. They get 1/4 of a can of Nutro Natural Choice chicken, rice, and oatmeal puppy food every day. I checked the labels and it is the kind that they recalled. They have gotten better in the last week, but I am wondering if it is because the vet put them on Hills prescription i/d. Now, one of them has been drinking a lot of water and peeing a lot, but it looks really clear. Is that a sign of kidney problems? And could it be related to the food?

Also, if it is how do I go about contacting the company to ask them questions? I have tried contacting the menu foods, but all I have gotten is a busy signal.

They have been to the vet multiple times in the past few weeks, and I have called the vet but I am waiting for them to call me back.

Is the drinking and clear urine a sign of kidney troubles?

Best thing you can do is keep the cans or pouches of food that you currently have to act as proof that your animals were exposed to the recalled items.

If you've already spoken to your vet, you've done the best thing possible. At this point in time, since MenuFoods does not know exactly what is wrong with the food or what is causing the problems, there's nothing they can really do at that end regarding treatment. Your vet will know the best way to respond to and treat the symptoms that your dogs are currently presenting.

Keep all of your vet bills and receipts for when you DO get ahold of MenuFoods. There is a very good chance that you will be compensated for the costs.

Sounds like it could be from the food, especially since that was the kind of food recalled, and that they got better after you stopped feeding it. Continue to feed them I/D for now. And talk to your veterinarian about it. I do not know of any other ways to contact the company, I'm sure the line is busy because so many people have questions right now. Good Luck, I'm glad they are feeling better, I hope there will be no problems in the future.

I imagine they are getting 1000's of phone calls, so I'd keep trying.

I would bring this to your vet, tell them the pups have been on on of the foods that was recalled. He might be able to give you a statement to keep for your record (should the need arise for it). But keep trying to get ahold of the menu foods, with it being the weekend, I'm sure everything is going to voice mail!!!

Take them to the vet or animal hospital that does not sound very good for them. I just read an article about that, B/c I own 4 dogs .
Here is where you can check if the food is on the recall list go to
www.menufoods.com/recall
or call (866) 463-6738

as far as i know. menufoods is the only place where you can call as of right now. my friend uses purena 1 or however you spell it and that's not on the list.

you should ask your vet for more information.

It could be because of the recall. I hope that everything turns out OK. I'm a pet owner myself (3 cats) and I would be devastated if anything happened to them.

Nutro Natural canned is one of the brands that has a recall on it.
Look up the batch:

And avoid Pedigree. That food is crap.
