Yes, but even a small emergency like craving a chocolate malt justified breaking the speed limit for me!

If you were on a major highway, you probably wouldn't be able to get anywhere near the speed limit due to traffic. If I had to evacuate for whatever reason I would stick to back roads or off-road, and would probably speed no more than usual.

I would stay put. The gridlock is not a good place in which to be.
Be prepared to stay home, people.
Water, food and a little extra common sense.
Those who plan ahead will weather any calamity much better than those who don't. Government can't babysit us all, all at once. How I hope we become smarter each year, as it appears the future is getting ready to throw us all a DOOZIE!

My pregnant wife called me at work and said, "It's time. But there's no hurry, drive safely." Under those circumstances, that'a pointless thing to say to a person. If I had to evacuate, I fail to see how it would be any different.

If everyone else was in a hury, i would drive around 5 miles under the limit.
If everyone else was following the laws, i would drive like a mainiac.
