If you were on a major highway, you probably wouldn't be able to get anywhere near the speed limit due to traffic. If I had to evacuate for whatever reason I would stick to back roads or off-road, and would probably speed no more than usual.

Whaddaya mean? I drive my car over the speed limit every day. I don't need an emergency for that! So the answer is, I would sure as he-- try.

take a look at the video of the people evacuating florida the last time they had a hurricane.

speed? it took them 10 hours to cover the same distance that normally takes 1 hour.

I would stay put. The gridlock is not a good place in which to be.

Be prepared to stay home, people.

Water, food and a little extra common sense.

Those who plan ahead will weather any calamity much better than those who don't. Government can't babysit us all, all at once. How I hope we become smarter each year, as it appears the future is getting ready to throw us all a DOOZIE!

My pregnant wife called me at work and said, "It's time. But there's no hurry, drive safely." Under those circumstances, that'a pointless thing to say to a person. If I had to evacuate, I fail to see how it would be any different.

im a street racer im alwayz over the speed limit but i have two cars!!! id have to find someone keep up with in my civic while i drive my integra =0

I honestly dont think I would be able to... Can you imagine the swarm of traffic there would be? Remember the New Orleans evacuation? What a mess...

If everyone else was in a hury, i would drive around 5 miles under the limit.

depends on the speed limit if its like 25 and no ones on the street yeah ill be doing like 70.
