Is he scratching at them? Are they itching? I would put some Neosporin on them and then get one of those Elizabethan collars to stop any gnawing or scratching he may be doing.

DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ON THE STITCHES. It can be a very bad outcome if you do.

My pup was just neutered. The vet said if he tried to lick them or pull them to call him. They will give you a collar to put on him so he cannot get to the stitches. Please never put any human medicine on a dog or in a dog. You could kill him. Call your vet and I am sure he will get a collar to you even if it is the week end.

If they are the kind of stitches that have to be removed by your vet than you can put some neosporin on them just to relieve the area. If they are the kind that dissolve then nothing.

no, keep them dry and keep him from chewing and scratching at them. If they are in an area that he can reach to chew on them contact your vet for an E-collar to keep this from happening. If he is able to scratch at them you may try putting a sock on that foot.

As a temporary measure until you can speak to your vet...

You could use triple antibiotic ointment. Most stores sell a "store" version for $2-$3 a tube.

Polysporin is good. Ask your vet about a collar (no not the cone kind) that is very wide and straps on with velcro to prevent him from licking.

If they are the non-dissolving type then a little aloe vera gel would be just fine. Do not touch dissolvable stitches...
