I am pregnant with twins, natural, no fertility drugs or anything. No twin history in either of our families. When people find out we don't have twins in our family, they get this look of almost superiority, and they say in a real snooty voice..."oooh so you took fertility drugs." Like I have commited a crime, or like I am less of a woman if I had to take them. Are women who have had to use fertility treatments looked down up on. Obviously I don't, but I just am amazed at the response and the looks I get. I just don't get it. I just wanted to see if anyone else had an opinion on this. Also when they find out I will have to have a C-section, they feel sorry for me? I don't, heck, I am not looking forward to pushing out two children right in a row? C-section or natural, I don't care. Why are women like this?

First, it took me five years to conceive my son (no drugs, thank you very much!) and I believe that any way you can get pregnant is a blessing. Two babies is twice the blessing...period! Next, it's as if women think that vag birth wins them the Holy Grail or something...and the more "natural" (read pain-relief-free) the birth the more amazing the woman. I, however, have yet to meet a mother who's child EVER thanked her for going through as much pain as possible during labor. Women want everything that was hard for them to be even harder for you. We can be such snobs! I'd like to start a club for women who can revel in someone else's fortune instead of misfortune...unfortunately there wouldn't be anyone in it.

Yah, people get freaky weird about fertility treatments sometimes, and you have the rare perspective of seeing how it is for an infertile person, even though you aren't. I guess some women feel like they need to be better than others, even if it is something an uncontrollable as fertility.

And as far as the C-section thing, I think I'd feel sorry for you if you HADN'T had it! Having a vaginal birth with twins sounds crazy to me.

It reminds me of the women who act all pious by declaring "I am NOT getting any pain medication when I'm in labor." Of course, they usually end up screeching like banshees for the epidural when the pain starts, but I say why suffer if you don't have to?

Hope your twins are doing well!

I really don't know why women are like that. I think that they feel that if they haven't accomplished it on their own then they are less than a woman. Maybe they feel that's all a woman is good for. As far a c section you're having twins it's standard I don't understand why they would expect anything else. It can be quite a hazard having twins naturally. But c section leaves a scar most females want their body to instantly go back to pre pregnancy magically. For the scar after it heals buy some mederma and that really helps especially if it's a fresh scar. But women are generally like that b/c of stupidity lol I don't know of a cure for that.

I have no idea. People have been having twins naturally forever but since the invention of fertility meds everyone assumes that's where multiples come from. And I wouldn't feel sorry for you if you have a c-section. Sometimes that's the best choice for you. C-sections are harder to recover from than natural birth, but are over in an hour. I don't blame you for wanting a quick and easy birth.

I am like you and I get pregnant very fast. People are just jalouse of you having two beautiful babies! I have had csection but after the csection you should have a medication whch will help you go ot the bathroom if not the operationa dn not ebing able to move or go to the washroom will kill you. THe pain is really awful. Tell your doctor you like ot have some thing to help you with the pain of going to the washroom and not any drugs, some thing really efficient! Doctors usually do not take you serious when you have difficulties lying down in bed because of the horrible pain!Stay at the hospital at least for a week since doctors like to release you right away and you will end up at home alone with this horrible pain and the kids to take of!

People are like this because, obviously the ones who DO react like this, only educated themselves about multiples in pregnancy by watching TV, because most of those shows are about people having quints or something because of fertility drugs. They automatically assume that you took fertility drugs because that's all they've heard about in the news or on TV. It just CAN'T be because of the normal situation where 2 "soldiers" reach your already fertile egg! *sarcasm*... People these days.
As far as the C-Section, they probably just say this because of, AGAIN, what they hear about. C-Sections are supposed to have a more painful recovery, but everyone that I know who had one, were thankful. I've had 2 kids naturally, and the pain of natural birth sucks, and I'm sure that recovery of cesareans suck.

I personally don't look down on woman who take fertility drugs. I feel if I couldn't have had children, we would have adopted.

It sounds like that lady had something stuck up her butt. She must have been older or jealous. I wish sometimes that I had had twins, it is on my dads side of the family. 3 sets of twins(16children all together)

I wouldn't let it get you down. I agree with you on giving birth. As someone who has done complete natural, I couldn't see myself pushing 2 out. C section is almost safer in my opinion with multiple births.
Just remember no matter what, you can't please everyone.
Congrats to you!! Good Luck.

My sister is in the same situation. Everybody asks if she took pills, looking for a reason why she gets twins, looking for a reason. I think they are just jelous, and just want to say: well that is easy, getting twins with pills....Do not listen to them, it is still a blessing that you got pregnant, with or without pills. There are a lot of women who don´t. C-section, well it would be better to have them naturally, they feel sorry, because they say, you will miss something, getting birth to your children, it is really a unforgettable experience and part of the pregnancy, but safety is first, if you have to get a C-section, because of health, so that is ok, as well.

I don't have twins, I never took fertility drugs but I think "wow! There's a tough woman!" Congratulations on your babies. And yeah. People are sometimes real big jerks!!!

C-section...had two of them, nearly died both times. (The second time I shouldn't have tried for the v-bac!) I don 't feel sorry for you. But I will tell you to follow your doc's orders after. Take your meds and stay on top of your pain. It does take a little longer for your milk to come in and recovery is a bit slower. Be patient with yourself and don't push yourself. And if someone offers help, TAKE IT! And if they don't, don't be afraid to ask.

They probably feel sorry for you because C-sections are more expensive. They are feeling sorry for your wallet!

Take care and have two healthy babies!
