Ok the miss information about covering finches, No you do not need to cover finches. Yes they should be in a darkened quiet area after sundown. A nest is not nessicary for zebra finches and really not a good idea if you have a male and female. THey will breed then you will have a whole buch of them. If there is noise late at night then you should probably move them but a cover is not nessicary. If it makes you feel better then do it but it is not nessicary

Hi there. Put your fids in a dark quiet room for 10-12 hours a day. Hours that work with the sun are ideal. Cover if you need to have a great year.

Aw I use to have a zebra finch her name was Finny anyway I would cover her when you go to bed and when you wake up take the cover off. She will sleep when you sleep.

The birds need to be put into a quiet area at dusk-when the sun starts to set for to be exposed to noise when their body clock tells them to sleep but they cannot is causing them stress and any high level of anxiety/stress will eventually affect their health. They need to have the cover on but birds do hear.(small openings in the skull)and therefore are very sensitive to noise) To ensure your birds live a long, healthy life it is essential they have very low levels of stress and of course food that provides all their required dietary needs.Find a quiet place and put them there-should not even be exposed to TV Noise and you probably have one in the Living Room.

Don't you have a little nest for them? It's a little basket that hangs in the corner. I also used to give them string you buy at the petstore. They let you know when they want to go to bed by their roosting noises and they tuck themselves up for sleep. They like to be covered to keep it dark and draft free.

I put all of my birds to bed by 8:00.
You can also move their cage to a bedroom so they can get rest without the noise. Still cover them though.

yeah it'd be nice. if you forget every so often it's not the end of the world but yes, they liked to be covered. it doesn't really matter what time, whenever you think of it.
