Forget the school officer, press charges with the local police. You have the one guy as a witness. You could try to sue the guy on your own in small claims court if the witness was willing to testify for you, but I suspect this would all be a big quagmire: with all of you being underage, the judge might say he had to refer it to a youth court. Then you'll both need attorneys, which will cost a lot more than $2,000.00 and you'll quickly realize you wish you hadn't bothered. Make a real police report, and let them handle it.

first, why is your i-pod worth $2000? are we counting every song you have downloaded or something? Second, if there are witnesses and they have told the officer, I can't believe he would not do something even as simple as asking to see it, or asking if he knew where it was. Also is it a theft, or did you loan it to him and he is failing to return it. Does he have regular permission to use the i-pod. If you are not happy with the officers actions, ask for his supervisor and talk to him. As for taking it to court, you can attempt to sue him in civil court, but it would be a waste of time. I suggest going to another officer or your principal. Be sure you can articulate how you know he has it, and witnesses can do the same.

Yes you could take him to court but it wouldn't be worth it because of court costs an lawyer costs would exceed the price of your ipod. Also you couldn't prove he has it. You can't say what his friend told you in court that is hearsay. Your best bet is to talk to a principal or officer.

Yes you can take him to court, but do not expect to win unless you have a witness that says that they were told by "Chris" that he stole it from you. You might want to just slash his tires.
And smash his windows for good measure.
