I am 30 and he is 44. How do people see couples with such a big age difference? Should I even care?

For starters, you should care unless it really bothers you that he's 14 years older. The older you are, the less people seem to take notice. I have a similar issue: I'm 29, but I look about 5 years younger, and my man is 38. People look at us funny sometimes, but I don't care. I love him and wouldn't give him up for anything. The real question is does it bother you?

That's not really a big difference. It is really how YOU feel about the age difference not what other people think. At the end of the day you are with him not all those other people. A big age difference is more like 25 years or more. Even then, if two people are in love, age shouldn't really matter. Life is short, and love is often much much much shorter. So enjoy!

Do you love him? If yes, then it doesn't matter what people think. You're a grown woman and as far as I'm concerned as long as you are not under 21 it shouldn't be a problem. You never want to live your life pleasing others, cuz you won't make everyone happy. That is a lesson that I'm still learning at the moment. I know someone who recently got married...she is 37 and he is 50. I'm sure its something different and new, but that is what life is all about, experiencing new things and new love. Good luck with your relationship and remember to always follow your heart!

If you were 14 and the guy was 14 years older then society would look at you like you were crazy! But in this case, dont worry about them. That's not that bad of an age difference in your ages.

One of my best friends has seen a guy for 4 years and is now engaged. She is 30 and he is 54. It depends on the couple. And no, you should not care. If you are in love and he treats you very well, then ignore any remarks. My friend's fiance is a catch and a half. He just blows away anyone she has ever dated. She would be crazy to let their ages get in the way.

No - who cares at all! Now if you were younger it would cause major grief but, you are 30 now.

Age is just a number - I would rather be with someone older and know I'm well taken care of then have someone my own age and be in a domestic abusive relationship.

While I would say there is a great age differences, if you care for each other and wish to be together, then go for it. I wouldn't worry about what others think and I don't believe society will care.

hello

I don't think that age matters in this day and age. I know lots of couple where there is at least 8-10yrs age difference and they are very happy. As long as you are happy and he is happy then don't worry what others think. Just remember to take care of yourself. Life is short and we need to fill it with people that make us happy. so if this guy is the one that make you happy then don't worry.

No, you shouldn't care...you're both mature adults, or should be. If you were 20 and he was 34 it might be a bit different...while 14 yrs is outside my comfort zone, I don't think it's inappropriate...my best girlfriend is dating a guy 17 yrs her senior and they are crazy about one another...what other people think doesn't cross their mind (she's 35).

OMG.........sorry, but I'm soooooooo sick of hearing this. When will people ever get over this "age hang up" thing??? Look, you are both adults.....if you two both find common interests in each other and you want to be together......DO IT!!! The hell with society and what others think. Do what make YOU happy.
(ok...I'm done ranting now)
