Ok, Im a sophomore in high school, and for freshmen, and the first part of sophomore year, I received alot of D's and F's out of laziness. Now in my second semester, I have a 3.8, is there any chance that if I continue to get good grades that I can still get into college ?

I lived in japan for 3 years because my parents are in the military, so moving back to the states after freshmen year took a little adjusting.

Yes, don't worry because you can explain what the situation was just as long as you keep those grades elevated in the A's and B's from now on. Talk to your guidance counselor and ask if you can somehow make up the more important classes to change those bad grades. Sometimes, they will allow you to do that, especially if you get your parents involved. Good luck!

Yes. Many colleges ask you to write a letter about yourself. You can explain the earlier bad grades. They also ask for a recommendation letter so you can ask a favorite teacher for that (don't worry, the good teachers are happy to help). If you end up not getting into the college of your choice you can always go to Community College for 1-2 years and then transfer. Just don't give up.

Yes. Work as hard as you can. Take two years at a community college. Get an associate of arts (college transfer), and along with a steady improvement of your high-school grades you should be fine. If you play your cards right, you might even get a scholarship.
