They throw around opinions about what the rest of us should and shouldn't be doing. "your going to hell" they tell us. But if there really is a hell I hope the ones that say things like that to the rest of us, are going to be there too, for saying it.

And they also forget the verse that says, "Let he who is free of sin, cast the first stone."

The bottom line: Because part of every Christian's job as a soldier in the army of Heaven is to spread the WORD and this is the mission of all Christians, aside from following the New Testament. Therefore, in order to know what others must be doing wrong, a Christian must judge.

Judging and offering help are two different things. I think a Christian might be saying the things about hell as a way of expressing the seriousness of the condition. God will do the final judgment, not us. If a Christian observes something that is against the will of God the Christian may feel moved to point out the error and point out that if the error isn't corrected, the results could be very bad.... aka-Hell. If mom tells little boy not to touch the hot stove, is she wrong for doing so? No. She knows what the result of touching the hot stove will be. She knows if he touches the hot stove he will bet burned, go through pain, etc I think it's the same way with a Christian and the judgment thing. It may be a hopefully helpful warning more than a judging..

Why do people who say 'judge not lest ye be judged' ignore the fact that's only half the quote, and taken completely out of context?

If Jesus had said, "do not judge," then he would have been advocating anarchy. Judgement is the most important capacity humans have.

The verse is, "Judge not others lest ye be judged BY YOUR OWN MEASURE." It continues on, "For in the way you judge others, it will be measured unto you."

The verse isn't a warning against judgement -- it's a warning against hypocracy.

Yeash -- and this coming from an atheist, you'd think other atheists would know this much too.

you have made an error because you don't understand what it means to "Judge"

If I tell you that adultery is a sin, am I the judge?

If I say stealing is a sin, am I the judge?

If I say murder is sin, am I the judge?

The answer to these 3 particular sins is no, I am not the judge, we all are very familiar with the big 10 commandments, God gave us these commandments, that makes God the judge.

If I say that by not trusting in Jesus for redemption of your sins, that you are going to hell, am I the judge?

NO because the Bible tells us this, it is not my opinion or judgment, it is the truth according to the Bible.

If I say that Blue is the best color and if you disagree you are going to hell, then yes, I would be judging and in so doing, be guilty of a sin. God never told us what the best color is, He gave us many colors and it is all open to opinion. (but I must say that He did make the sky blue d:O) ...)

Well you can hope someone goes to hell for telling you that you're going there unless you make some changes in your life, but your hope will be in vain for they're not judging but telling you what thus saith the Lord. There is a difference in telling the message that God commands us to and judging. If one would go back and read the Bible again, then he would also see that judging is not even a sin.

The world often takes this verse out of context and uses it to accuse Christians of being "judgmental" when they speak of sin. In the context of the verse Jesus is telling His disciples not to judge one another, something the Bible condemns (Romans 14:10; James 4:11). In Luke 6:41,42 He speaks of seeing a speck in a brother’s eye. In John 7:24 He said, "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." If someone steals, lies, commits adultery or murder, etc., the Christian can make a (righteous) moral judgment and say that the actions were morally wrong, and that these sins will have eternal consequences. Chuck Colson said, "True tolerance is not a total lack of judgment. It’s knowing what should be tolerated—and refusing to tolerate that which shouldn’t."

If you finish the verse, you will see that how we judge, we are also judged by that standard. I won't tell anyone they are going to Hell as that is between them and God. But if someone asks an opinion, I will offer it.

Tsk tsk, at least complete the verse so we can get the full import ... "Judge not lest ye be judged in like manner". BIG difference, eh?

So according to our Bible, those that judge can be judged in like manner .... not that no one can ever be judged, it's just that if you judge someone you should be ready to sit in that same judgement seat.

Oh, and btw? Opinion is a bit different from judgement, isn't it?

Yes, Christians do often make this mistake. The Bible says "Judge not, lest you be judged". None of us are perfect but I feel that more people should stop being so Self righteous.

For by the measure in which you judge so will you be judged.

That part you left out. I wonder why? Do you know what it truly means? What is it about judging is are not suppose to do?
May be we are suppose to judge ourselves by the same standard in which we use to judge others? Think about it.

But hell is a different story, it is a place we choose to go by our actions annd deeds. Either accept or reject God but the choice is totally your.

Here is why.

Are you a good person? What a question, most of us believe that we are good people because we can look around and find someone that is far worse than we are. We can always point to the things that we think make us a good person.

But how good are we really? Dare we take this test and look at ourselves and see if we really are good? Hmmm.

If you are willing try this and see just how good a person you are.

The Good Person Test.

How will you do? Pass or fail?

Have you ever told a lie?
Doesn't matter how big or small, just a lie.
What does that make you? Before answering think about this, if I told you a lie what would you call me? A liar?

Have you ever stolen anything? Cost doesn't matter, a piece of gum, failed to give back an ink pen that you borrowed, anything.
What does that make you?

Jesus said, "You know the saying of old, you shall not commit adultery but I say that if look at someone to lust after them you have committed adultery in your heart.
Have you ever lusted?

Jesus said that hate is equal to murder.
Have you ever hated anyone?

See one day we all are going to stand before a Holy God on Judgment Day and he is going to judge us based on His Holy Law, the Ten Commandments. These are just 4 of them and how did you do? Guilty? I have broken all of these and more, what about you? How well will you do on Judgment Day?

If we break just one point of God's Law we are guilty of breaking all the law and Gods Wrath abides upon us all. Based on God's Law we are all guilty and all are deserving of punishment. But there is an out for us.

Jesus paid the price for each one of us, took on himself God's Wrath so we wouldn't have to face it on our own. Jesus was beaten, battered, bleed and died so we wouldn't have to face God's Wrath. He rose again so that we would life in his presence. Our crimes, His payment.

The real question is where will you stand on Judgment Day. Pay yourself or have it paid for you. Think about it.
