Hi,
I'm not sure if you're looking for non-profit organisations or informational sites, or both, but here are my favourites:

www.thehungersite.com (just click once a day and corporate sponsors supply staple food to the hungry)

www.plan-international.org (Plan is like World Vision but I like it MUCH better because it is non-religious and conversion/preaching is not one of their mandates. instead, funds go to giving the impoverished the tools to direct their own futures and bring themselves out of poverty.)

this is a book, not online, but I found it interesting, enlightening, etc. : "Out of Poverty and into something more comfortable" by Stackhouse (correspondent with the globe and mail in canada).
