I heard that "Letters... was being shown in Japan but "Flags.. is not because it's too "controversial". Is this true? If so, I thought that Japan was supposed to be a democracy. Also, if true. why is there no indignation from the Hollywood politicos?

Flag of Our Fathers was released in Japan on October 21, 2006
but didn't stay in theatres long....like some movies do here.

Letters from Iwo Jima is actually the controversial movie in Japan
as the Japanese government at the time pretty much abandoned
the soldiers on Iwo.

I cherished the two too, yet Letter from Iwo Jima replaced right into somewhat extra effectual....specifically because of the fact it concentrated on the conflict itself, and not numerous the real existence propaganda conflict bond fundraising. i admire Adam sea coast's portrayal of Ira Hayes...makes you ask your self why we consistently have the utmost share in keeping with capita of volunteers..and then going domicile to combat discrimination, and so on.....

Flags Of Our Fathers is about American's side while Letters From Iwo Jima is about Japs's side.
The culprit is Clint Eastwood the director, he should not tell the Japs side, now the Japs watch this movie to glorify their sacrifices in the war that they started it but blamed the U.S. for causing it due to political pressure. The young Jap Rightishes viewed it to be proud that their fathers were honour bounded to die for the country that had the right to invaded Korea, China and other South East Asian countries to free the colonial rules (just bull shits) , now they used every pretexts and false allegation to justify their war, The Japanese bookshops have many war story books to glorify their war and accused th U.S. to force Japs to start it.
Clint Eastwood should learn that during WW2, every American hated the Japs, now they kissed Japs backsides, they have forgotten their deaded relatives now, it is an insult to the deads and a slap on the faces of the survivors or maybe the survivors also kissed the Jap's backside also.

To the Japanese nowadays, it is the U.S. who started the war.

so, Eastwood, you've done a great job to nullify their guilts,
The Japs don't even want to show "Flags Of Our Father" in Japan.

Unlike the Germans, the Japanese have not yet come to grips with the reality of their role in World War II.
